Uptown Plaza is a charming, restored shopping area that combines mid-century modern style with a lively mix of local and national retailers and restaurants. Built in 1955 and revitalized over sixty years later, it serves as a welcoming gateway to North Central Phoenix’s historic core. The open-air layout makes it a pleasant place to shop and dine, similar to places like Desert Ridge or Tempe Marketplace, but with a more intimate and upscale atmosphere. Visitors enjoy a variety of options, including popular eateries like Shake Shack, which offers great burgers and quick service, although parking can be challenging. The plaza features marquee shops and family-friendly spots, making it suitable for all ages. Nearby, a farmer corner strip mall with a grocery store and full shop spaces is lively and full of trendy locals and young couples, especially during the summer months when the outdoor area is enjoyable. Despite some parking and convenience issues, Uptown Plaza remains worth a visit for its unique blend of history, shopping, and casual outdoor vibe.
We had amazing fish dinners at Chula Seafood in Uptown Plaza. I had grilled seabass with brown rice and my husband had a salmon & tuna poke bowl. We both said our dinners were excellent.

Such a great corner of food and drink establishments. We visited Chulas fish market for the first time. Thr corner has been revitalized and is a casual contemporary experience with lots of options. Parking can get a little tight but not too bad.

Uptown Plaza is a whole new ball game. Really excellent selection of foodories, and a bunch of unique stores make this a great destination spot for a relaxed meal with a friend or to kill a pleasant hour between meetings.
