I've got to give Walgreens credit when credit's due. With the trade issues going on with China, and knowing that we don't manufacture medications here anymore. There's a shortage of pain pills across the country. Routinely, prescriptions for chronic pain are unavailable, or on backorder.
You and I as patients are unable to call the pharmacy and ask if they have a certain medication. Either the Dr has to do that, or the Pharmacy finds the medication for you at another location. Today that happened.
Today my Dr called in a prescription for my wife after Safeway told us it was on backorder, but didn't bother to tell us that until 4 days afterwards when we went to pick it up. I asked if they'd find it at another Safeway and they refused.
So my Dr called it into Walgreens. When I called, Walgreens told me they were on backorder too. But the Pharmacist went on his computer and found the Metairie in stock at another Walgreens. We immediately called our Dr and had them call it into that Walgreens.
That's above and beyond service imho and needed to be recognized. Thanks Walgreens at 48th and Elliot. You went above and beyond in this case.

Pharmacy service really bad. Takes way too long to fill, and they tell you to come back at a certain time and then give you attitude when it's still not ready. They proceed to over explain why and how they have so much to do etc. I don't care, I'm just coming back when I was told and then it's not ready, come back in a few hours and it's still not ready. Why don't they just say cone back tomorrow? Save me from making multiple trips. This is for my husband's meds. Luckily I use CVS. They are super quick. My prescriptions are ready even before I drive from the doctor's office to CVS. Getting a text that it's ready while I'm on route. Too bad my husband can't use CVS. His medical insurance is different than mine through our employers. I told him to try a different Walgreens or maybe Frys or Target which are closer. There are a few other rude incidents but overall I wouldn't recommend this place. They are rated low, that should tell you something. I don't think their management cares, otherwise things would be different. I'm not a Walgreens hater. My mom worked at a QC Walgreens before she died, it was great. She loved it. But the one on Elliot is a place I wouldn't recommend.

Went to this pharmacy to get vaccinations, one of them required me to come back for a second round two months later. First time I went I made an appointment. While giving me the shots the doctor told me I did not need an appointment when I came back in two months. I questioned him because that surprised me but he said absolutely no need for appointment, just walk right in and we’ll get you taken care of right away. This was false information. I went in today with no appointment and the pharmacy was completely thrown off. Asked me if I wanted to make an appointment. I informed them I was specifically told not to by the doctor who gave me the shots the first time. He asked me all the personal questions I’m supposed to fill out on paper out loud in front of the store. Then made me sit and wait for the shot for 15 min. Finally calls me up and says they don’t even have it in stock. Have to order it and I have to come back tomorrow. So I came here to say, they should inform their doctors that an appointment is absolutely necessary and frankly should be required if they don’t keep their pharmacy stocked. Three stars instead of two because the doc who gave me the first shots was very nice. Uninformed, but very nice.

The pharmacy operation manager is rude and does not know how to bill insurance. I believe the reviews for this pharmacy/store. Don't know how most of the pharmacy staff still have a job there.

This location is horrible. The customer service is terrible and the workers tonight seemed incompetent. The only answer for an error on their end was I'm not sure you can speak with the manager tomorrow. Kyle and whoever the cashier was, were lacking in customer service. I really hate going to this Walgreens and this situation was three reason I feel this way. I rather go out of my way than go to this location or any other Walgreens. Horrible.

I thought the reviews were a little extreme until I started using this pharmacy regularly. The wait times for filling a prescription are longer than any other pharmacy I've ever been to, even for very common prescriptions that don't need any kind of special mixing or ordering. I have never NOT had an issue with insurance at this location, despite using the same insurance at other locations. I've had to explain to multiple employees how Tricare works (extremely common insurance) and have had them argue with me about it only to call Tricare to confirm pharmacy benefits and find out that I'm correct. I primarily have filled prescriptions here for my kids when they're sick, so that makes the issues even more frustrating. Waiting hours and hours or even days to get a script filled for a sick kid is unacceptable. Today was the last straw for me, though my own fault as I should have switched pharmacies ages ago. I called just to get a status update on a prescription for my sick baby and the pharmacist wouldn't tell me whether they had even received my prescription until I gave her my insurance issue for the 4th time in a row. I'll be utilizing another pharmacy going forward.

Go to literally any other pharmacy. I had waited for my prescription for an entire week while Walgreens kept telling me it was being worked on and would be available “tomorrow”. I went into the pharmacy to get some answers and they told me “we don’t order that anymore”. Had I not gone in, I would’ve never known.

Absolutely awful pharmacy!!!!! If you have a choice use ANY other pharmacy. I have had more issues with my prescriptions since I’ve started at this pharmacy than I have for my whole entire life combined. Seriously, every single Rx has some issue or another that takes literally more than a week to resolve. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable.

My husband and I had 3:15 PM appointments for flu shots. Got the shots at 4:15! Apparently booking an appointment means nothing. Staff was overwhelmed.
