The kid just sat on his phone at the self check out while I had issues. Partially fixed one thing, then right back to the phone. The items in the dairy section were pushed so far back that I had to get on the floor and reach to the back. Who ever "manages" this place should get reviewed by his/her boss STAT. I won't be back. 7:00 PM self check out. Fire that worthless employee, or take his phone away.

The guy at the go drive section passed me twice, ignoring me and having to get called up to the cashiers only to get told that I was waiting. He then talked to me in Spanish, profiling me as he assumed I knew Spanish because of the color of my skin

This store needs an overhaul of management and customer service. Like in other stores I go through self checkout. Never had an issue before at other stores and something happened I put large item in buggy after ringing it in and not in bag and the system tripped. The system called the attendant and I was accused of trying to steal. Why would I steal when trying to pay for my items. The customer service associate racially profiled me. Beware of large Mexican with glasses he hates white people. This experience was horrible being accused of something I did not do. I spoke with management and explained my concerns but nothing was done the man is still racially profiling people in customer service roll. Someone like him should not be on floor. This store should be retrained.

Rude a** young bagger and cashier ... mostly female bagger. I'm disabled... difficulty walking. I asked a simple question "are you guys ever going to reopen both doors so that people with disabilities don't have to walk all the way around in order to enter and exit at specific doors? My item (tuna sandwich and cat food) were on the end that's designated exit only. Instead of being professional.... I was scoffed at and was told people enter and exit that door all of the time (scoffed again). Obviously I was mad abs confronted the girl and told her of course this is insignificant to her because she doesn't have a disability. Maybe a little training on customer feelings would be appropriate.... definitely appreciated. I was rudely handed my receipt without an I'm sorry/have a nice day. I was just glared at by both. Btw... I go to many Safeway's and you are the only one still doing. How about a little compassion for people who's every step kills them?!

(6/19/20) I have been here a number of times since it's right down the street from the Ahwatukee EoS. Safeway is always a convenient stop for a grocery haul or some quick eats. Compared to the other Maricopa County Safeways I've been to, this one has taken some getting used to; it's a little more cramped, and I'm not onboard with how the store is organized (i.e. eggs and bacon are in the back -- around the corner -- not intuitively along the wall like in other such stores). However, never mind the aforementioned remarks. My real annoyance was with one of the staff members at the self-checkout line. Although seemingly friendly with the other shoppers in my midst, when it was my turn to scan my items, she just pointed at one of the machines. There was no, "This one's available!" or even a hello. Just an ominous, prickly point. Who the hell do you think you are, the Angel of Death? Nonsense. It was that gesture which sullied my impression of the staff (though the others really do a fantastic job keeping the store running smoothly and safely, and I do of course thank them). To my warden, however -- save the pointing for when you see a pretty meteor. I can locate and operate my own checkout machine. We'll see how things go tomorrow when I drop by for more post-gym goodies. Godspeed.

Only this location on Elliott....worst customers service 2 times now. First time their debit/credit machine went down and I was the the first trying pay. They said my card (2) declined so I moved over to call my bank. The next 2 people same thing happened so they said it was a glitch...and got it fixed. My groceries were bagged...I asked to pay and they told me to go to the end of the line??? (All 3 of us...and the lines were long it was the height of hysteria). All 3 of us said no way and left and took our business elsewhere. I call the manager and she says sorry and will leave me a gift card at customers service. I went back today and no card, and the woman working at customer service laughed and said she has nothing, and doesn’t believe the manager would do that for those issues? I will never be back.

The staff in this Safeway are wonderful. Friendly, helpful and kind. The meat department guys went out of their way to help us with our rib roast request. Very thankful for them.

I went to Safe Thursday morning to buy soup (less than $2). I always check my receipts before leaving a store but I was i a rush on a break at work. Later that night while getting dinner my Card declined finding out I was charged $92 and some change for a bowl of soup at safeway. LOL I was like, "Who buys $92 worth of soup!?" Called safeway store Thursday night spoke with closing manager Homyy who said I would need to go in the next morning to speak with Store Manager Russ or Judi because i didn't have my receipt. Totally understand. Friday morning at 8am spoke with Julie and Russ who immediately found the receipt and made a POS adjustment to refund my bank the full amount of $92. The process would take a few days to post back into my account.. they did not know how long this would take. I have an electric bill which is on hold because of this dilemma and only have $3 in my account until next payday! (Black Friday) Thankfully I have friends and family who are able to help out with my funds until I get my money back but hope I was the only one who had this over charge Thursday and it never happends again.. which I'm sure it will. Kudos to the management team for getting this straightened out but totally an inconvenience to me. Won't have my money back into my account until Monday (Tuesday morning the latest). **Always check your receipts!

I was running late for a get together (pot luck) knew I could not create anything as I had multiple events that day (unusually busy). I was thinking bakery something, which led me to the Safeway Bakery. Then it started, damn there is so much good looking and good smelling stuff, it is hard to make a decision. If only I could taste a bit of each one....well if that was possible I would probably not leave for a few hours. I chose two kinds of their Signature Select cookies, an Oatmeal Cranberry Walnut and a Chocolate something. I got to the gathering and placed the two boxes in the dessert area, not wanting to admit that I was bring "store bought" goods. As the event progressed, I heard people commenting on how good these cookies were....did someone make them ? Guess they were taken out of the box for serving. Well, I could not take credit for baking them, but I did know where they were from and I had to admit that they were from Safeway's bakery Dept. That did not seem to matter, everyone loved them and they were soon gone. I did not even get one.

Why would any one go elsewhere? We love the care and talent of our local Safeway bakery at Elliot and McClintock. Leah is so very talented. Now I'm spoiled...we love what you do!

This safeway always takes forever to checkout. I think they are understaffed. The lines are always super long, there are any people to bag. I always am here longer then I want.
