I love the niche things in life including this store! Wide World Maps is a chain and is really specific but what they do, they do well. The interior feels a lot like waling into a book store and the vibe definitely carries once you talk to the store manager. If you have any questions, and you probably should if you're walking into this place, the front desk manager will be able to help you with the intelligence and experience of a seasoned librarian who knows exactly where every book in their library is. If you like learning and looking at maps, dreaming about visiting remote areas some day this, is the spot for you. A really fun aspect of walking into the store is asking what sorts of interesting maps they carry. I personally really loved the map of Phoenix superfund sites created by FEMA. It's beautiful enough to hang on a wall but still useful enough to reference it several times per month. My favorite aspect of wide world is the funny collection of people who come in to shop. The whole store is full of quirky interesting people who will talk your ear off about an interesting map they discovered in a garage sale. You'll have a blast just socializing here. Finally, I will add, even though the prices f the maps aren't cheap, their quality reflects in the price. Every map I have purchased here is an awesome, high quality, doesn't rip or fade, and is awesome to look at.

Lovely place for bibliophile! I could have stayed for hours, but was there only until my $ budget was empty. They had the maps I wanted, plus so much more. The owner was very helpful and knowledgeable. I recommend it for map-lovers. He also had shelves of old out-of-print and rare books!

This place is a Phoenix gem. I've been going here for 20 years and the owner, Jeff, is great to his customers. They do their own old-school cartography in addition to selling tons of maps, atlases, and accoutrement. Their cartographers focus on Phoenix and nearby areas, such as the Mogollon Rim. Their maps include MORE roads than the official Forest Service maps--that's how knowledgeable these guys are. So this shop is a must-do for the outdoorsy types from hikers to people with Jeeps etc. They also make a SWEET Phoenix atlas in-house but maybe that's just for map dorks like myself.

Definitely worth the stop. Got a road map for traveling, I got a hiking map made by the owner of the store, a old timey map of the Arizona, a standing globe, and a couple of very interesting books.

Honestly wished I would have looked up the ISBN before purchase.Bought a book "Gem Trails of Arizona". Not rare or out of print. Their pricetag covered the area where the book's price was printed on the back cover.I took off the price tag to make the book look "cleaner" & found they marked it up by $3 and have a strict "no returns" policy. My initial 5-stars was based on my history of awesome service and promoting small business. The deceptive placement of price tags & price mark-ups changed my rating to 2 stars. It isn't what it used to be and that's a bummer.
