We where out of town(from Houston) and our 2014 Toyota Sienna was making a noise around the converter and the main pipe to the muffler. On a Saturday Chris was able to get the van on a lift and wielded the connection. The van was as quiet as a mouse. Got the Houston and the wields are still holding.

I brought my car to Auto Max for spark plug and ignition coil replacement, expecting a simple repair. Instead, they dismantled my vehicle and fabricated costly issues to scam me. They claimed my brakes needed bleeding, there was oil on the manifold requiring a new gasket, and my perfectly working supercharger needed replacement with a $1,000 labor charge—none of which was true. Most shockingly, they removed my undercarriage shield and lied, saying they didn’t touch it. The shield has 9 bolts, and 6 were missing; bolts don’t vanish on their own. This dishonest behavior, coupled with their recent ownership change, suggests Auto Max is exploiting customers with fake repairs and shoddy work. Avoid this shop at all costs—take your car to a trustworthy mechanic who values integrity. I’ll never return and urge others to steer clear.

I love this shop. They have been taking care of my vehicle for a while now. I appreciate the quality and fairness. They are really good at taking time to diagnose and fix it the first time. Not to mention they are affordable. Thank you Automax

My experience at Automax was excellent! I brought my car in to have some faulty engine mounts checked out—something that had been causing noticeable vibrations in my drive and was beginning to affect other things. Eric at the front desk was professional and communicative throughout the entire process. Once the problem was diagnosed and other possible problems were ruled out, he clearly explained the work needed, the cost, and the expected timeframe.
Their labor rates seem to be lower than the average for shops in Prescott, which was a nice bonus. Both Eric and Dave (the owner) were kind, down-to-earth, and genuinely uplifting to interact with. Even though I didn’t chat much with the rest of the team, it was obvious they enjoyed working there and had a positive shop culture.
When my vehicle was ready—earlier than expected—they gave me a call, which gave me enough time to plan a ride. They even held the car for me until I could come pick it up. Overall, I highly recommend Automax for honest, efficient service. I will continue taking my vehicles there for as long as I live in Prescott.

Thank you, Auto Max! The work that was done recently to my car was to notch and I’d use your repair shop again for any repairs that I may need in the future. Once again, thank you!!!

If you read the reviews it’s clear that this is NOT where you want to bring your vehicle. Unfortunately being newer to the area and in a tight bind, led me to bring in my car that wouldn’t start. A local told me about this shop close to their home, however their only experience was with an oil change and when it had different management which I didn’t find out till after it was too late.
I have to say that everything about this shop was unprofessional. My vehicle was in their possession for over a week after the check engine light came on, overheating alert, and the vehicle wouldn’t start. They were baffled as to what was wrong. They tried replacing a plastic part and kept me updated up to that point saying they were unable to pinpoint the issue. Finally they called to tell me they CHOSE to change out the starter and attempted to charge me $1,100- this was done without my authorization and without providing me with a quote or options for a starter. When I complained about being blindsided by this I was given this condescending response, “well you wanted your car to run didn’t you? I mean we can take it back out and give you back a car that isn’t running…”. I felt manipulated into going along with he work they had done. After pity from the actual owner, they called me back to offer a discount and they charged me $500. I reluctantly paid for and picked up my car and of course within a couple of days the EXACT same issues occurred and the car wouldn’t start. Ultimately, the issue was a frozen engine and I had to take it to another shop to get the full scope, details other finding of the vehicle that Auto Max couldn’t figure out over the course of 2 weeks.
Later when I called Eric the manager to discuss the matter, he immediately became defensive raising his voice and told me that I wasted their time by bringing my car back to the shop after their attempt at putting in a starter didn’t resolve the issue)?! So I guess bringing in a vehicle that is having mechanical issues is beyond their scope of practice and additionally you’ll be wasting their time by doing so.
I was later told by the local tow truck driver who took my vehicle to a more reputable shop in PV that AUTO MAX in PRESCOTT does TERRIBLE WORK and they’ve towed many cars from there only to bring them to other more reliable shops. Again, please don’t fall into the trap I did! Please take your vehicle somewhere else if you want professional and trustworthy work performed.

LITERALLY GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE!! My dad told me he trusted the guys down at automax So that's where I took my car when we couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. Boy was that a mistake! They told me it would be $155 to diagnose it if it took an hour. (Could possibly be less) They called me at the end of the day and told me that they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and wanted to know how much money I was willing to spend so that they could figure it out... I agree it was not a typical issue, my dad was a mechanic in the army so he's fairly good with cars and we had already replaced the fuel filter fuel pump coils spark plugs and ignition control module but the car was still having issues with hesitation and sputtering and would sometimes die while idling. I decided to go pick up the vehicle and take it somewhere else. I drove the car there but when I went to pick it up it wouldn't even start... I popped the hood and noticed right away that the spark plug wires weren't even in the right position because number one had a piece of tape on it so I put the wires back where they were supposed to go but still barely made it out of the parking lot before the car died... It seemed to be way worse than when I brought it there. I pushed it into a parking spot and arranged for a friend to help me tow it to action automotive the next morning. If you're looking for a mechanic that will get the job done right I would definitely go to action automotive. They determined that my alternator wasn't working correctly so I did have them replace that and after they cleaned the mass air flow sensor my car was running fine and they told me I could come pick it up. When I went to pick it up however it had the same issues and died so two of the mechanics stopped what they were doing because they were baffled that it was running fine prior to that. They determined that just cleaning the mass air flow sensor wasn't going to be good enough and that I needed to replace it. They ordered the part and it was delivered 10 minutes later, they replaced it and only charged me their cost for the part and no additional labor for the hassle! It really was no hassle compared to what automax put me through! I'm so glad I didn't give AutoMax another $793 for something that wouldn't have even fixed the problem! I will say though that Howard down at automax was very friendly and arrange for me to only pay $75 instead of the $155 they originally quoted me for the diagnosis. Apparently automax is under new management/ownership and has gone downhill.... Come on guys... Get it together...
