John was available to fix our rv fridge right away, but didn't really know what was wrong. A week later, we found out he never ordered a part he thought we needed (we didn't need it). We canceled his service & found someone else who fixed it in 2 hours. I guess he did his best...

If you are reading this, do not trust John. He is a crook, liar, and a cheat. My car broke down heading home from California, near his old shop in Quartzsite. He was the only mechanic shop open at that time of the day and his google reviews looked pretty good. I dropped off my car at his shop and headed back home about 3 hrs away. He told me that he needed $1,000 for parts before starting the car. I hesitated before I payed him, but he seemed very nice and trustworthy over the phone, so I sent it to him via a cash app. He told me it would take him about 2 weeks to fix my car. As that time got close, he made up some excuse as to why it wouldn’t be ready yet, I believed it, and he told me another 2 weeks. Next thing I know every 2 weeks this guy has a different excuse as to why my car wasn’t ready yet. 3 months after I originally dropped my car off, I tell him that I’m picking it up and towing it home for another mechanic to work on and that I want my money back. I arrive to his shop and my car was locked behind a fence and he refused to give it up to me. The police said it was a civil matter and couldn’t make John return my car. John said he would only return my car for another $800. I said no. More time passes by and eventually me and John mended our relationship and I allowed him to continue to work on my car. Unfortunately, he continued to come up with excuses as to why my car wasn’t ready and eventually started dodging my calls. I decide that I’m going back up to his shop and taking my car back. 6 months after I originally dropped my car off, I basically had to sneak onto his property and tow away my car. As I was on that property, someone came by and said that John no longer has access to his shop and his been shut down by the police because of so many complaints. Do not trust John, he will take advantage of you if you give him the chance. He will literally take the money and run. To make this whole matter worse, John literally did 0 work on my car. I’m telling you, if you’ve read this far, don’t let him work on your car.

It’s unfortunate that I have to write this review. John came to to my aid when the cylinder broke in my key ignition and I wasn’t able to turn my bus off. I had driven from Phoenix and felt so grateful that a mechanic was able to meet me where I was camped and manually shut it off. I waited for an hour and it was late but didn’t mind because I was in a vulnerable position. He told me he could install a make shift switch the next morning until he located a new used steering column. He guaranteed that he could find one for me. That it was easy because of all the old buses and junkyards around. He was true to his word. He did return in the morning and he installed the switch. When I asked him what I owed he said this part was free of charge. He was driving in the area anyway. But he had located a steering column and asked for $200 upfront in cash in order to purchase it. He explained something about fraud and bank issues, that he couldn’t use his card to access cash and he needed it to pay the guy for the steering column. I didn’t have cash on me so I ended up paying through cashapp. That was the last I ever saw him. I reached out several times and he responded with various reasons why he couldn’t make it- ‘he hadn’t gotten the steering column out of the bus yet, his truck broke down, he had strep throat.’ A week went by, two weeks, three… eventually he stopped responding altogether, and I tried to get my money back through the credit card company that was tied to my cash app account but because it was not a direct purchase, but through a merchant service instead, it was denied. Yes, he didn’t charge me to shut the engine off when I was in a very precarious situation and he did come back and install a switch which took him about 15 minutes. I would’ve paid for those services. I was so thankful. But the fact that he chose to be dishonest and take advantage of me- take my money and then not follow through- was completely unprofessional and disheartening. It kept me in a state of limbo for weeks because I didn’t want to move or travel until the work was done. Maybe something terrible happened to him and that’s why he went MIA. I hope that isn’t the case. But it would be an explanation for his disappearance other than behaving like a criminal. He did share a lot of chaotic personal things about his life right at the get go. I just chalked it up to colorful character in a small town and again grateful that he provided a niche service.

I had a noise under my hood and John met me (he was doing jobs in the desert) at his garage in Feb '23 when no one else in town had time for me for a week. He diagnosed the problem in 2 seconds but didn't have the parts and said that I shouldn't run the engine (found out this was true when checked with my mechanic friend). He drove round trip 60 miles to get the part and had to take care of other customers in the desert all day. He got us going around 9:00 pm that night and we were very happy he could get us done on the same day. Nice guy; he found out it was my wife's birthday when I was paying the bill and took $50 off his already written (reasonable) bill. Headed that way again 2024 and good to know who to call.

This place is the worst! John, the so called owner is a thief and a liar! had a trailer bearing issue coming home from the lake and he was the only place that picked up the phone. Dropped off the trailer and he called 2 hours later with a quote. We were 2 hours from home, we paid a $100.00 deposit for parts and he said he would call the next day when it was ready. We told him we would pick it the next weekend. He never called when it should had been ready, had to call him 4 days later, still not done! The excuse was wrong brake parts. Told him to put it back together, since we had an appointment with our boat shop the following Monday. He said, " I'll have it done tonight", whatever. Paid a co-worker $100 to go pick it up since I had to work that weekend. They arrived at 12:00 and it still wasn't done. Finally, they paid him $300 and left. They got 25 minutes outside of town and the tire blew out because the didn't put the cotter pin in place! Destroyed my tire, new bearings, races and seals. my co-worker got it home, going 25mph on I-10. Now the spindle is destroyed and it needs a whole axle. When confronting the "owner", he agreed to send us back the $300.00, that was Oct 7th, it's now Nov 4th. Doesn't answer the phone, return calls or text messages. My suggestion is this. If you need anything, don't go to this place. Call a tow truck and get home. Have a real shop repair your trailer!
