The Quartzsite Improvement Association (QIA) is the oldest non-profit in Quartzsite and is all volunteer supported. It is an awesome place with a very friendly staff. It is the location of the annual Pow Wow rock, gem and mineral show in the third week of January, featuring over 500 vendors from all over the world with rocks, minerals, turquoise, fossils, beads, and meteorites. The organization hosts many winter activities for those looking to avoid ice and snow. These include various music concerts, great live entertainment, music jams, bingo, dances, arts and crafts, exercise classes, and off-roading. There is also a Gold Show to learn how to find gold nuggets. It is a great place to winter in an RV park or boondock on the BLM desert land, with free parking and low cost for RVs. Visitors highly recommend this place, noting it is a great opportunity and that you are missing out if you stay in Quartzsite without visiting.
