Wow wow wow. Crane, renamed from V Bar V just a couple weeks ago, Petroglyph Heritage Site was by far the highlight of our tour of Verde Valley federally managed lands. The rangers and volunteers are excellent storytellers, respecting and informed by the tribes who trace their origins to these panels. The solar calendar is amazing. Seeing that astroarcheology set in stone brings to life imagination of past lives and communities.

I had my service dog. Showed his creds still got the 'fake service dog' look from one of the, what are they anyway? Told me not to let the dog deficate because there are still "spirits here we need to protect"I'm sure the Southern Sinigua are just thrilled at the paths, the fences, wrought-iron fence around the petroglyphs.. and a couple hired RVers commandeering the place. Not to mention $5 for the privilege (and several people gave up trying to pay the machine.)..This land in this place was an Oasis and heaven on earth. Please treat it as such. I'm not sorry about the way I look or about my dog. He's as essential as the medication i take. That was offensive to me.But I love history. I love mysteries and I love this place. It's powerful.

This is an absolutely amazing site for petroglyphs! Easy and short walk from parking area. No pets are allowed. Jim (aka Henry Winkler) was so knowledgeable that I came away from the site much more wiser. He even played a Native American style flute for us (video attached). If you want to get away from the crowds in Sedona, this is a great place to go!

I would put this on the must visit list while in Sedona. There's so much rich history to see and stories to learn. Taking a step back in time when the land and world were far more pure. There's something very calming yet energetic in the area. The docents are very knowledgeable and share great stories to aid in understanding the petroglyphs and history.

An interesting place to go visit. We had a guide who did a great job of explaining many of the images, and a group of us ended up getting into an interesting discussion with him. As you can see by the photos, there were lots of images. The docents in the visitor center were equally as interesting. The center had comfy chairs to relax in, along with a lizard who came in from the cold, complete with a warning sign (watch out for the lizard). It is a good place to stop and get some history of our country. Definitely recommend!

This place is amazing, a must visit. Flat walk on wide improved trail takes you to excellent petroglyphs. Nice gift shop. Super volunteers and ranger. I want to go back already. Just continue on 179 the opposite direction from Sedona for a couple miles. Takes you right there. Paved road. Couldn't be easier.

If you're into the indigenous culture of the southwest, this place is a must. The wall of pictographs is incredible. There is almost always a docent at the wall to explain the meanings of the characters.Park entrance is free.Parking is $5.00, if you don't already have a National Park Pass or a local trailhead parking pass.Check the site for their open hours. They do not have standard business hours.Be respectful of this site. Recently, inconsiderate people have scratched names on this significant rock art site.

Nice short hike down a well maintained path to a very nice display of petroglyphs. The speaker was pleasant & knowledgeable. It was a shame to see that someone had to deface it with idiotic graffiti.

Great place to visit to see the petroglyphs. There was a volunteer on-site providing lots of good information. It was approximately .41 miles from the parking lot to the petroglyphs. If you're a senior, buy the Federal Park pass for $80. You'll be able to use it in many parks all over the US. It saved us a lot of money on our travels.

Amazing little hidden gem of history. Well preserved and there is a guide that explains and teaches (to the best of todays expert knowledge) the history of this place. I was so impressed, beautiful petroglyphs. It's a little bit of a walk, about a 1/4 mile in. Once you get there you can sit in the shade and still take in the impressive petroglyphs on the stone walls.

The serene and shady (level and mostly smooth and accessible) pathway was meditative, and the ancient and clearly visible petroglyphs were truly awesome and inspiring. There was a very knowledgeable forest service volunteer at the site. The drive is off the beaten path and within some campgrounds. Plug in the route before starting the journey for the site because phone and data get sparser and sparser as you get near.

This place has a lot of history of the land, with over 1000 Petroglyphs. But to be real honest the experience would have been just okayBut because "Jim Wilson" explaining the petroglyphs and what stories they have made from educated guessesThe images make a lot of sense and are not just some kind of old stone carvingIt's insane how smart and well planned the people that lived here well before us were. How they use the sun and the petroglyphs to make a functional calendarAgain I want to emphasize how the knowledge from "Jim" made this experience just mind blowing
