I am very disappointed. I have scheduled the teams meetings twice now and was told that I would receive a text to join the day before. It's Saturday and my appointment is at 8:50am. I have not received a link. The first time I called I told them that I did not receive a link and the receptionist stated she could reschedule me because I missed my appointment. I said no, a link was not sent. So we rescheduled for today. No link sent. I've been on the phone all morning trying to get ahold of someone and offices are closed. First impressions matter and I am not impressed. I will not be contacting this office again.

I received excellent care at Banner Gateway hospital and weight loss center. The weight loss team as a whole runs amazingly well. Dr. Graf is so kind and manages to make you feel heard and good in a very short visit. Shout out to my patient care lady, Ashley! She handled everything with the insurance so well and turned everything over sooo fast! Even the lady who answers the phone is knowledgable and helpful! My nutrition lady Mya is so helpful and sweet! While in the hospital recovering the nurses at Banner Hopital were all so compassionate and kind. The staff at the weight loss center checked in while I was there as well. PA Brandon listened and knew I was struggling my 2nd day and ordered meds quickly for me to help get me well and home. Overall great care and a really positive WLS experience.

I normally dont write reviews, but felt I needed to for this visit.I did the bariatric surgery info session, and was found to not have any coverage for surgery. So I went in for a medical weight loss consult with Dr Graf.He did not review the 6 page questionnaire I filled out. He asked me a couple questions about health, then went into a 5 minute spiel, which seemed extremely rehearsed and without deviation.I told him I had labs done recently, and he said we didn't need those. We just call in the medication, and "its never covered by any insurance, so we just send it to a compounding pharmacy." Had he looked at my labs, he would have seen I have an A1c which categorizes me as being Type II diabetic, abnormal/high fasting insulin and abnormal cholesterol levels.I felt like I had no chance to speak about how I was feeling, other concerning symptoms I had...just take this medication, pay out of pocket, and we'll see you back in two months. There was very little guidance on food choices, but I'm supposed to meet with a dietician in a month, then follow up with a Dr a month later. Why wouldn't I meet with a dietician first, instead of stressing myself out trying to figure out how to navigate a new diet and track everything on an app that I've never used before? Why wouldn't we try to get it approved by my insurance since I clearly have abnormal labs?I feel like this is not the place for me, and will be seeking care elsewhere.

I am writing this review a year and a half later.. Dr. Heller is a hard working , determined, kind gentle soul.. Towards the end of 2021 I came in for a consultation due to being attacked by a dog . The wound I had, had collected a lot of fluid inside and was getting bigger and bigger. Dr. Heller made sure that from the beginning I felt comfortable and that I knew I was in great hands.. He took the time to sit down and talk to me and explain everything that was going to happen or what could happen if plan A didn’t work. Dr. Heller is one of the most understanding Dr.s you are will ever meet , he strives to help others. He stuck by my side the whole time, and while I was recovering in the hospital he came to my room daily just to check to see how I was doing. I will never forget him, he saved me in the most horrific time of my life.. He is my hero !—- best wishes , Tori

The absolute worst place I have ever been to in my life.Dr.Chen needs retraining and learn how to speak to patients. The coordinator was horrible her attitude was really bad.The front desk young lady was nice that's about it...I ended up changing programs. I'm now at Dignity Health where my first class was 3 other ppl who left Banner because of Dr.Chen as well.Banner was very unsupportive seemed like you were a bother to them when about 3 of the employee should be in the weight loss program themselves...Please choose somewhere else to go you have been warned...

I wouldn’t recommend these people to my worst enemy. I have had to constantly call to ensure that paperwork was sent off for prior authorization. The first two times they sent off paperwork, they supposedly sent it to the wrong carrier despite me giving them the auth paperwork with the contact information. They finally sent off the paperwork to the right carrier for the WRONG procedure AND failed to send in all of the required docs. I’m sitting a month after it was supposed to be sent just waiting for someone to do their job. I am beyond frustrated. This is my life and health that’s on the line. People don’t make the decision to undergo these procedures just because. I see why people choose to just give up.

PA Andy, Dr. Podkamini, and both nutritionists are great and that is where the greatness ends. If you are looking for an extremely stressful situation that causes emotional eating and exacerbates your concerns, visits Banner Gateway Baritric. The office staff was contacted numerous times by my insurer and myself and never returned a call. The staff stated they submitted the prior authorization for surgery which was incorrect. They had submitted it to a bad phone number and a simple call on their behalf could have saved months of issues and lots of money as things such as labs for surgery expired. It is a sad that a few minute call and a little follow through could have saved so much stress. Many people in the program are emotional eaters and it only takes 1 support group to realize so with all the questions on the subject. The program with cause high anxiety, depression, or whatever other symptoms you are trying to alleviate. I'm in the process of attempting the program for a second time due to my insurance only allowing Banner. They have incorrectly billed insurance the first run through which caused severe stress and when concerns were identified, no reimbursement was offered.

This process is long and hard. You can easily get lost among other patients. I became frustrated many times the way the office messed up paperwork and felt i got lost in the shuffle. I had to stay on top of them or things don’t get done. However, now that I’ve had the surgery done, it’s still worth all the troubles. I came here because nothing i did worked and i was at a last resort. I needed to save my life and I did. I would do it all again even though it was a difficult process. If you’re going to get surgery, follow the nutrition advice prior to your surgery for an easier transition post op.

I've been following the program exactly, I'm pre-opp and have come to the conclusion not to have surgery due to the unorganized conditions of the office, billing dept and staff. I was referred by my family physician who I respect a lot, after attending Banner for five months it's become very apparent their billing dept, office staff and related mandatory requirements other than medical related are staffed by inept ignorant fools. I can not and would not, in fact I'd speak against using Banner for weight loss help/needs and I would never give medical advice. It's just shocking, I have lost 30lbs pre-op, so my opinion is not given out of no results but motivated out of a warning to other potential medical professionals who may refer patients to Banner. I'm not going thru with surgery after experiencing Banner's total failure at accepted billing practices even on a elementary level. It's one FU'ed place. I had minor surgery at nearby Gilbert Mercy Hospital and was amazed how it ran and how I was informed and treated, after that it's hard to believe I'm even on the same planet after dealing with Banner, never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought I'd be writing this, never.

Oh and not only did the psych nurse not clear me because of past trauma, when I said I’ll just go to Mexico l, she literally said that wasn’t a bad idea and just make sure I research where I go. No way is she a real psychologist

I’m disappointed in the lack of communication with this center. I attended a seminar first (required), and after the seminar our benefits would be checked. I received a voicemail stating that Mandy wanted to speak to me to go over insurance benefits with me. I returned the phone call just to find out my insurance doesn’t cover Bariatric surgery. I am not sure why she couldn’t state that on the voicemail. It’s a day past my open enrollment to sign up for insurance through my employer, and I didn’t sign up for the employee insurance because of the way Mandy worded her voicemail. Very unfortunate and disappointing. Don’t waste your time.

Have been trying to call the office for 2 months now! They sent me to collections for a bill I’ve already paid. I’ve even emailed them proof of payment and my credit card transaction and they still sent me to collections! I’ve called 7 times, asked to speak to manager 3 times, and sent 3 emails. NO RESPONSE! Not only did they steal 1,200 from me they are now trying to ruin my credit. DO NOT GO HERE. They respond you reviews saying email us with your concerns but that is also a waste of time because no one ever gets back to you.
