Visitors to Pinnacle Peak Park encounter a moderate out-and-back trail that winds through the pristine Sonoran Desert. The park is open from sunrise to sunset, with official hours changing with the seasons; check the City of Scottsdale website for details. The hike is only about 2 miles up, not difficult, and features stopping points and great views. An attendant at the information booth is helpful. Restrooms are clean, and the picnic area is very nice. Families enjoy the well organized path and the amazing air. The trail is not very wide and can be crowded, so walking single file is best; parking is plentiful. Some suggest a port-a-potty at the turnaround to keep the nature ambiance, and junior trail rangers can be introduced at the end, which takes about 10 minutes. The hike takes roughly an hour and a half.
Beautiful hike. 2 mile trail, 4 miles round trip. We want about 1.25 miles then turned around. Would definitely go again. Signs and staff are very helpful. Free public bathrooms and water fountains.
