Lots of animals for adoption, pretty loud and hectic, really too crazy when a lot of people are there to have a relaxed time to find a new pet that suits you. Dogs are barking and jumping up and down in cages. No way to get a read on dogs when they're going nuts. I ended up going to an adoption event at SV Mall and adopting a dog there, even though it cost me $100.00. At Nancy J. Brua it was an anniversary event and adoptions were $16.00. But where I found my dog elsewhere it was relaxed and easy to find my new dog.

Never have I ever received the type of customer service I did yesterday at this shelter. I was already so emotional from taking 2 cats in that I could no longer care for, and the receptionist just made it so much more emotional.I never adopted the cats that I took under my wing for a few months, I agreed to the other person that I’d be able to care for them and raise them as long as I was able to, which I did until I was no longer able to house the cats. The original adopter abandoned them. Anyways, I explained this to the receptionist, to which she continued to act as if I was the one in the wrong. Upon first walking in and seeing my kennel with the cats “ did you make an appointment to surrender the cats?” . I didn’t even know I needed to make one. She says “ well it looks like we can take them, we have a little bit of room”. And it just snowballed from there with her snarky attitude.Someone else had walked in, asked how her day was, and she said “ it was great up until a little bit ago, you know, just one of those days now”. With so much attitude. As horrible as I was feeling already for taking those precious cats in, she made it seem as if it was all MY fault that I couldn’t care for them anymore. I WASNT EVEN THE ORIGINAL ADOPTER. I did my best with what I could do. She’s unprofessional, snarky, and could use some empathy/sympathy customer service skills as I was already on the verge of tears walking in with the cats.

I took a stray dog to Nancy J Brua Animal Care Center about a month ago. I check on him weekly (because he stole my heart) and am very pleased with how he's doing. The place is clean and staff are animal lovers. Highly recommend.

Verna showed me around and introduced me to all the dogs. It’s amazing. She knows every single one of them their personalities they’re good traits and bad. She also asked what kind of temperament I was looking for. So when we got to dogs that met that criteria. She said this one would be perfect. I’m not ready yet, but when I am, I will be getting my dog from them.

The love & and care they put into their work to provide for these animals truly deserve its own special kind of merit. My wife and I went through an extremely rough and emotional time when we started our search for our fur baby. We initially wanted to adopt a dog, but soon came to the conclusion that Mr. B (as seen in the pictures) was truly the cat meant for us. We looked and met a lot of different breeds of cats and ultimately fell in love with our little tuxedo boy. He has been an absolute blessing, and we are so thankful to have our cuddly boy in our lives. Thank you once again, Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center for all you do.

The Nancy Drew animal Care center has a great staff and they literally care about you and your animals. They have really hard jobs. It takes a special person to be able to do the job that they have to everyday. Several several years ago when I was unemployed poverty-stricken I was able to get dog food to feed my animals. I know they have a timeline, I can't remember. I do know they depend on volunteers and helping them take care of the animals. I really believe high school students should be able to volunteer because this would be a very good place to learn responsibility and the importance of caring for somebody other than yourself. I do know that they accept donations anybody needs to part with any things they had for their pet or possibly if they still are aluminum cans you'll have to check with them first. I just want to thank all the hard-working who are they are taking care of all these animals and even in the community if something happens to a person and is reported to them like a dog bite they do follow up and a very nice about. I have learned from them how important it is to have your animals vaccinated.
