Excellent staff and service, someone always seems to know when you need help with something, don't have look for help 😉

I've never felt more uncomfortable or angrily rushed from a store at closing in my life. I arrived 30 minutes before close only to find one employee with plumbing experience. Sadly, he spent 30 minutes with another customer asking the same questions over and over. When it was finally my turn, I was told that the store was now closed and I needed to leave. It's like every single employee there would turn to stone if they walked out at 6:09PM with me. The worst first impression ever!
I chose this store because of its size and vintage atmosphere but in this case, bigger was not better and it was anything but old school customer service. I'll stick to the smaller, newer Ace Hardware stores from this point on.

In the past we have purchased our chicks here because there was a wonderful employee who handled the chicks with care and was quite knowledgeable. Unfortunately, he has left and someone has taken his place who is not qualified by temperament or experience to handle the chicks. She needs another position in the store, possibly in an area where gentle kindness is not a requirement.

The positives of the store location are that they have a wide variety and selection of paints, hardware, and odds and ends. That’s where the pros stop. The cons are lengthy and include terrible times on the phone when checking in stock items, associates, overbearing swear ladden, inappropriate conversations between aaapciates, instead of proactively helping customers. Some of the store associates have come across with attitudes. Why does this matter? Sometimes when you’re shopping, you need assistance and it’s nice not to have to ask for it but rather be offered help. It’s also nice to know that the Store is there to help you find what you came in for rather than searching for minutes on end. The only reason why I ever return to this store is if I need an oddball item that my favorite store in town does not have. You’d be better off to head to another Ace Hardware. that is, until the store, associates and management at the store realize that personal matters can wait and business comes first.

All im gonna say is that I would have gladly paid $100 for the same $70 item i bought if it were at a store where i didnt feel like a criminal entering. Im someone who shops pretty frequently and i consider customer service to be a huge factor, so this is where my rating comes in.
If you're okay with silence, no welcome in, and a rushed exit, ACE is the place for you!
Editing to add in that we were not only ignored; the employees were talking to each other, we (two Hispanic customers) walk in, and every.single.employee walked away from us. It was equal parts hilarious and upsetting.

The Hobby Shop use to be a great place to go, always busy though, difficult to get help. They have recently moved all their RC hobby products to a unit outside. Since then, it’s been hard to get staff to look at product. They don’t answer phone calls anymore. Won’t shop there anymore. I’ll just buy from other companies online. They also lost a good worker, Aiden. He was super helpful.

I can't figure out why but some of the employees are just ornery at the 22nd and Kolb Ace store. Unsmiling, unfriendly, quick to offer help that is incorrect but delivered swiftly as if to get you gone ASAP. The cashiers same. Just nearly gritting their teeth. Not all just enough to make you wonder what is in the air?
This is the 22nd street Ace. The employees at the other Ace stores owned by the same family don't have this attitude.

Spent long enough on hold (twice)for three things to happen:
1. The hold music stopped.
2. I wrote this review.
3. I ordered everything I needed off of Amazon during the duration of my call.
The ONLY benefit to going to a brick and mortar store is for the personal customer service. Try doing that, next time.

Worse customer service ever, had to wait for God knows how long to get keys cut. I had a coupon for my birthday on May and they wouldn't honor it when they always use to do, the cashier was loud and rude as heck. Don't remember her name but her hair was red. Honestly why trying to support local business when nobody is trying to help you around the store and won't even care. This store has potential but very poor customer service. Also they say keys are not discounted items. Geezzzz I'm friends with key CRAZE provider and keys run for 9 cents a piece and they sell those for 2.59 and they are non discounted items. WOW!!! WHAT A GREEDY NEW OWNER THEY HAVE

They are proud of the stuff they have by having higher prices. But you can find things other hardware stores do not carry.

This Ace Hardware is the most welcoming and friendly hardware store I've stepped foot in. I like to think of myself as handy (but I'm not really). I start projects, realize partway through that I need a different tool or bit of hardware. I very consistently get eager help finding just what I need.
Additionally, this location is just plain fun to spend some time in the hobby section! You're likely to find not just hobby supplies and equipment, but a new hobby as well!
