We had to wait for about an hour to be helped. There was only one person behind the counter and there was a long line. Don't think I'll use Avis again

The type of car we reserved was not available at pick up. We were forced to take a car that my elderly mother could not even get into and had to drive 100 miles round-trip to exchange it two days later.

Rental was fine until the return. There was no one staffing the return and no information on where to leave the car. I finally found an Avis staff member to had the keys off to, but the return was never processed correctly resulting in me having to call to get my receipt days later.

The car I received was dirty inside, windshield had a crack in it, several door dings. Sticky substance all over the dash. Not the car I expected from AVIS.

This particular avis location is horrendous. Stood in a line of 5 total people for OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF, as the one and only rental attendant was nowhere to be found for the first 20 minutes. Once she showed up, it took her 15+ minutes per person. Every other rental company at this airport had 3-4 employees working the counter. I've honestly never seen such slow service in my life. Do not rent a car from Avis at this location.

This was my first time in Tucson and it started off horribly with the Avis staff that I had to deal with when I arrived at the airport. I reserved the vehicle through Priceline prior to my trip. I reserved a sports car/challenger or similar. I reserved this through Budget. When I arrive to pick up the vehicle I was waved down to the Avis counter. When I made the reservation I used my debit card from my bank and also verified online that Budget accepts debit cards for their rentals and may put a hold on a certain amount on your card depending on what vehicle you get. I was fine with all of that! This girl walked over to where I was being helped who I believe was a manager. Dark skin braids with her hair up. The man that was helping me at the time told her the situation and she said no we cannot rent you a car. I said what am I supposed to do! She said we have Uber in Tucson! I could not believe her reply! Here this is my first time in Tucson/ Arizona I'm by myself and being told they will not rent me a car! The reason for my trip out there was to take some time to myself after losing my spouse and my father in a matter of a month. It gets worse. A girl sitting down from the man that was helping me felt it was necessary for her to put in her two cents! She said well it may say that online but rules are different at airports! Did you read the rules at the airport ! Mind you she said this in a very rude condescending way. I was at a loss on what to do. I'm standing there in this new city and state being told I have to figure out on my own how I'm going to get around. I was out there from Minnesota. Then at some point the dark skin girl/manager mumbled to me to cancel my reservation through Priceline and put in a new reservation for a different car. So at this point it was past my pickup time and I had already paid $52 on my debit card for insurance that I probably won't ever get back. So I went on Priceline to reserve a different vehicle. I was set up at the counter with the girl that was so rude. She said I'm helping you now! She won't even make eye contact with me. She told the manager just give him a Kia Rio which I know is the bottom of the line of the vehicles that you supply. The manager said something to her and then everything turned around. All the sudden she was polite to me and said I'm pretty new here I guess I didn't know how that worked and you can use a debit card. I reserved a Camry or similar and was given a Ford Escape. In the end I received a vehicle but have no idea why I was treated so poorly. I had a great time on my trip after that but was treated poorly again when I return the vehicle. I pulled into the parking ramp after filling it up and handed the guy the fob. He told me to take the slip over to the booth which I did. The dark-skinned male with a bald head told me that I needed to go inside. I said I was told to bring it to you and then I was not going to wait in line inside. He finally took the slip for me in a very rude manner. I said thank you for all your help and he snapped me and said yeah you too. This whole experience with Avis should have never happen. What is wrong with people? Unbelievable! I would like someone to contact me about this.

Do not believe Avis or Budget. There is a very high probability, probably near 90% or more, that you will not get the car that you reserved, especially if it is a minivan. I was lied to by the app or Web Service as well as someone in person on the phone. The second time I even called to be sure that I wasn’t being lied to by the web process that said it had my desired vehicle, both did not have the vehicle promised. I drove over an hour to get to the rental place, and was essentially stranded. What should’ve been 15 to 20 minutes ended up being 3 to 4 hours. Thanks for wasting my time.I was also given a vehicle without a rear blinker! I was told it could either be towed or I had to go an hour away to exchange the car. I changed it my damn self and added another two hours to the other 3 to 4 that they wasted. It was not a straightforward replacement. It was a pain in the butt. But better than waiting for Avis to tow it someplace.

The battery in the key fob went dead during my rental period. I called emergency roadside assistance, and I got no help from them. I called many times to get different people to assist me so I can gain entry into the vehicle, but the employees on the other end pretended that they couldn’t hear me or just didn’t understand what I was trying to tell them. I ended up figuring out the problem myself by traveling to a nearby gas station to get the battery replaced. Horrible support service. Shameful
