after a referral for FC from a trusted friend who had just completed a full remodel, with all custom work, I have been using FC for the better part of 10 years... on multiple homes and projects. I cannot begin to express my level of satisfaction with the work, detail, craftsmanship and professionalism from the owners of this local business. They are honest, highly skilled experts, and priced very fair for the work you get. They've built and installed 3 entire custom kitchens, 5 closets, doors, 3 offices, custom beds, tables and chairs. even a couple murphy beds along the the way. I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of. they just completed a full install of a gorgeous walnut floor-to-ceiling media center/library in my den. In a world of ikea and wayfair and walmart, to be able to get beautiful custom work done for a fair price... wish I could give a 6th star.Services: Custom furniture

Not recommended. Customer design intent not correctly translated over months of talking and drawing and observing and questioning. As a customer one expects the experts to guide the customer through detailed design processes. FC takes liberties and makes silent assumptions in these areas. Crude measurement and installation techniques. See other low ranking posts that reinforce. Exceptional at miscommunication, blaming weather, tolerance stackups for problems. It’s just not worth the time, money or effort. Proceed at your risk.

I had Furniture Creations design and build a set of exterior front doors. There were a couple of issues:The completion of the doors was delayed by their glass supplier being late in delivering. Not really their fault per-se. Then the door, which specified dark bronze hardware, was installed with bright aluminum weatherstripping (the weatherstripping itself is dark rubber/foam, but the metal holding it was bright aluminum). After I pointed this out, they came back at a later date to finish the install and brought the correct dark weatherstripping. The upper and lower latches for the non-working door were also bright, but I didn't ask them to fix that since they're only visible when the door is open.My biggest complaint is that the door was not made with tongue and groove construction, but instead appears to be entirely built with butt joints. This would be fine for furniture or an interior door, but for an exterior door this results in lots and lots of very narrow gaps between adjacent pieces of wood which light, rain or cold/hot air can get through. These gaps are very obvious whenever it's bright outside, or from the outside at night when the lights are on. I had the installation team patch them up as best they could on two separate days, which they did with a color-matched sealant. They got all of the gaps that were noticeable at time of install, but as the door has finished drying out over the last two or three months, more gaps have developed. Honestly the only way to avoid that is to use tongue and groove joints, which is why that is best practice for exterior doors, according to my internet research after the fact.It didn't occur to me to ask about the construction practices at the time I placed the order, so I can't say that they didn't deliver per the contract, but I sure wish they had known to do tongue and groove, or if it would've been a price difference, asked me what I wanted. I suspect they haven't done a lot of exterior doors before (they are a custom furniture place, not a custom door place, after all), and didn't realize what was needed. In hindsight, perhaps the price difference (Furniture Creations was 20 or 30% cheaper than typical national-level custom door places online) should've clued me in.Again, I'm not saying that the work was shoddy. The door seems well constructed and generally per the contract, and the installation was well executed. I would be willing to use them in the future for custom furniture, or for a door install, but probably not for an exterior door unless they changed their construction method.Service: Custom furniture

We have a large arch entering into an office which we decided to have custom glass and rustic knotted alder doors installed. We wanted privacy but we also wanted the beauty of natural wood that would not take away from the character of our house. The owner met promptly for a quote and design giving his recommendations. Shortly after the contract was signed and our doors were completed we visited their shop to review the product. After a short delay due to the glass being delivered broken from a provider in Phoenix, we scheduled a delivery and installation date. The workers showed up on time and were very professional. Thank you to your team.Service: Woodworking

There are many employee screwups I've omitted. If you don't have time to read this, remember one thing: Once they have your deposit—no matter how badly they mess up—you can kiss it goodbye forever.Your primary contact will likely be Leticia. Unfortunately, Leticia has been permitted a hand in the quote-making process, oversight of furniture construction, and modifications of furniture blunders. She doesn't have a nominal degree of training in such critical matters—a recipe for disaster.I met with Ruben (owner/designer) for consultation of my bed design. He did a sketch (see photo). I asked about CAD drawings and he said he reserved that for more complicated furniture design. He assured me the bed came with a one-year warranty.Leticia emailed me a copy of the contract (but only after I paid the deposit). Many details of the bed construction were missing and there was no mention of any warranty. The instructions for the the bed manufacture were written in English, but they have woodworkers who don't speak (much less read) English—another recipe for disaster. It also said, "All sales are final. No returns for credit or refund."Don't sign the online version of the contract because there is a full page of fine print on the back side of the paper version (missing from the online version). I discovered this devious little tactic after the furniture was delivered and paid for.Amish furniture costs less with better quality for the same type of bed, but the local Amish dealers weren't accepting any custom work at the time. Delivery/setup was $180 for a simple, platform, twin bed frame (I live within the city limits).I came by the shop to do a final inspection of the bed, where everything but the stain was to be completed. It had some serious issues and was not complete. Ruben said it was due to a lack of communication between two other employees. He said he could have the bed remade in a couple of days. I didn't want a rush job done on the bed, so I agreed to the current construction with some modifications of the bunkie board. Ruben said I would need an "X" support under the bunkie board (never mentioned it during our consultation). These were agreed to, but no employee was taking notes. When the bed was delivered, it had not been protected by anything during transport. It was covered with a couple of ragged moving blankets during delivery from the truck to my apartment. When the bunkie board was placed on the bed frame, it didn't fit because the "X" support beneath it was too tall. Didn't anyone with a few brain cells think to assemble the finished product before it left the shop? The delivery guy said he would remedy the problem, but I had to sign a document agreeing that the bed had arrived in perfect condition before correcting it. He took it down to the truck and I had to jump through hoops so he could use the apartment complex's exterior electrical outlet to recut the pieces. This was a quick-and-dirty fix (not cut squarely, splintered, unsanded, and poorly stained). Leticia said this is routinely done during delivery—apparently, due to lots of screwups. The bunkie board fit too tightly in some areas and perfectly in other areas. The hole in the bunkie board had wavy edges instead of smooth arcs. It was supposed to have a clear finish. Instead, it had the same finish as the bed frame. I wasn't going to have some guy botch it in the back of a truck, so I didn't mention it.I emailed Leticia and provided feedback on the problems and told her about the sloppy, amateur construction and lack of oversight by the Ruben. She was quite defensive and blamed the problems on the weather, the wood, my perfectly flat floor, the stain they used, and said I approved the poor construction—anything but take responsibility. She said they would be willing to fix some of the problems when I was more respectful. Apparently, they are a bit thin-skinned and can't handle criticism. I didn't respond to her email because it would clearly be a protracted ba

Our family had a custom piece made for our mother. The piece was not created according to the designed work. It looked very little like the approved design. The colors were not correct, hand carved sections were changed to stick on wood appliqués you could find at the dollar store, the sizing was wrong, and the creation/build time was extended by nearly 4 months with zero communication. When it was brought up to the reps attention they all but gave us the middle finger and said what do you want us to do about it and refused to make any changes. For a piece costing in the thousands you expect quality and that is the exact opposite of what we received. Don’t waste your time or your money for something that won’t be what you want.Service: Custom furniture

I asked Furniture Creations to build me a wall bed with 2 tower bookshelves on either side similar to the one on display at their store. It was built on time, the quality was good, but I gotta be honest…the install was less than perfect. They were in a new truck that was not well stocked and they made due with what they had with them and things weren’t right. Stuff happens… We spoke to Ruben, crew came back, fixed some at house, one piece had to be redone at the shop, but within a week, all problems were fixed, bed is a beautiful knotty alder, high quality that will last for years! We are very pleased with the quality of the workmanship, the professionalism and customer service from Ruben and Leticia. Thank you!Service: Cabinet construction & installation

Wow! What a great experience with this company and their employees. We remodeled our kitchen to include the cabinets. We took our time in finding the right people/company and we are so glad we did. We actually had our cabinets installed in the beginning of the year and the cabinets still look amazing!! We highly recommend Furniture Creations.

Furniture Creations is a real treasure here in Tucson. They just completed a perfect copy of an old Santa Fe library table that is truly of superb craftsmanship. A few years ago they built two 7ft. tall book cabinets with glass doors following my drawings and did a beautiful job on those as well. Don’t expect cheap prices but the time, effort, and skill of what they do is worth every dollar. Thank you Senor Ruben and all your staff!Service: Custom furniture
