Beat pho in Tucson. But after calling to politely ask for them to make a note of which order is vegan/vegetarian so my wifey doesn't beat me (stay at home hubby), they gladly agree "absolutely sir, our pleasure, will make note, thank you". Now im waiting for her to come home after going in at 9 am and returning at 8:30 pm. Vegetarian options: They have it but they won't mark it

After almost two weeks of exotic travels in the jungles of Vietnam, I came back to the West a new man with new tastes. Already feeling like a stranger in a place that was supposed to be home, I felt very off. Perhaps it was my body returning to health after drinking Saigon Red beer instead of water every single day in the hot, humid and unforgiving Mekong Delta. Perhaps it was the lingering sense that society is lacking an essential something, a something that can transform nightmarish, capitalistic monotony into a harmonious balance of actual joy and fulfilment. Perhaps I was just hungry.It’s only been a week, but I needed to devour a Banh Mi or some Pho asap. I put on some traditional bolero music and went to the googles to find me a solid Vietnamese food stop. And lo and behold, Pho Can Tho. Described as a “Low-key, family-run eatery offering a range of noodle soups & other Vietnamese favorites.”It was about to turn into a high-key joint (or maybe middle key at least) because as soon as I walked in, I told the lady at the counter “I’m looking for Tucson’s Pho King. I just got back from Ho Chi Minh and everyone claimed to be Pho King. I feel like the competition might be a little less stiff down here.” The lady just nodded and sat me at a table for one. I could already tell this place was Pho King headquarters. I asked her for a hot coffee (**Ca Phe Sua Nong)** and was so happy when she brought me the Phin metal filter which sits atop the glass with the coffee grounds and drips into about 3 teaspoons of sweet condensed milk. While she handed me the menu I said “did you know coffee was introduced to Vietnam in 1857 by a French Catholic priest in the form of a single *Coffea arabica* tree and with the lack of fresh milk and proper storage, sweetened condensed milk became a popular substitute as both sweetener and creamer?” She gave me a weird look and walked away. Yeah, I’m not a fan of the French either, toots.My eyes sprawled over the familiar textures and fresh beauty of delicacies of recent past. The Bahn Mi Ga chicken sandwhich with liver pate spread, egg mayo, cilantro and pickled carrots, the Com Tam broken rice with grilled sausage, shrimp, pork chop, shrimp patty, shredded pork skin and egg meatloaf, the Pho with its thinly sliced beef in a sumptuous broth surrounded by noodles, fresh springs, thai basil, cilantro, jalapeno and limes. I let out a loud whisper moan: “phoooooooooooo” as I came out of a food porn daze and noticed the lady was standing in front of me waiting for my order.I think a single tear poured down my cheek and I looked up at her with ecstatic and ethereal eyes and asked her to give me a minute. She raised her eyebrow and walked away once again. I wiped my face and got up to go out front for a cigarette after taking a sip of my sweet, sweet coffee. There was a new Vietnam war brewing. And it was one for my heart. The last time I felt these feelings was a long, long time ago. Like January 25th after almost crashing into a cow on a motorcycle. And i’m so grateful to feel them again. I ordered all the things and I think I may have found the Pho King of the desert. 5 Stars.

Food mediocre and EXPENSIVE. They charge you a fee to pay if not paying cash. Sterile (as in bland, boring, ugly) interior. Not a good place at all ?

The food is great. I always get the same thing. My son gets another same thing. (I get the pho large with brisket, tendon and veggies; he gets the bun with pork, or the special, bun with small pho with steak.) One day I will order something different but I could eat this 100 more times and not be tired of it. Extraordinarily good every time. And, a very relaxed and comfortable restaurant, for single diners or couples / small groups. Very convenient parking. For some reason, it's not usually crowded, but it should be!

If you are in the mood for pho this is the place to go! It was clean and we got our food fast. Let me tell you this is the best pho I've ever had! Must try.

Years ago, when this was Pho 88, I endured endless verbal abuse by the owner. She would lash out at me for the smallest of reasons and give me none of the credit tips. As an 18 year old in my first job, trying to pay rent, it was difficult to fight back. Sometimes I left with $2 in tips for the entire night shift. The average was probably about $5. She paid under minimum which was technically legal if you make any tips. Now they vastly overcharge and rip you off on portions. Go somewhere else ? “Auntie” Yan, I’m so glad to be rid of you. Even PetSmart was a better job than this place. Now I work for myself, thank GOD

Ordered through Uber Eats. Pad Thai with chicken was very good. Noodles were perfect tenderness, and chicken was clean. The Pho with rare beef, however, was the star of the show. Great portions of rich broth, noodles, thinly sliced beef, bean sprouts, basil, cilantro. and jalapenos with a little bit of onions and chopped scallions. Unfortunately, I would not recommend the spring rolls. The fillings had busted out of the wrappers in the container.

I've come here a few times now and have always gotten excellent service. They are fast and the food is always great! I really like the honeydew milk tea they have. I am always surprised more people don't come here

Foods are ridiculously overpriced, com tam is $29 included tip. I'm from Georgia and the price here are bizzare for Vietnamese food. Even the banh mi is insane $12

Way overpriced. $9 for one cup of coffee, $16.99 for 5 egg rolls, cold noodles, and some cucumbers and lettuce - and the egg rolls weren't even very good.The soup was delicious but, my God. We ended up just splitting 5 egg rolls and one large soup and still spent over $30.Idk I love Vietnamese food, but everything was double what I would ever expect to see anywhere else. My favorite Vietnamese restaurants in Seattle had much higher quality food in comparably shabby atmospheres, for half the price.Seriously. Stop charging so much for so little. You're gouging people.

The food was good but way over priced! We didn't order drinks and the bill was still over $100 for 4 people. The appetizers cost as much or more than an entree, and the portions are about half the size at other restaurants.

I'm from Houston and we have a literal ton of Vietnamese restaurants and I have Vietnamese at least once a week. The food here was EXTREMELY overpriced with ridiculously small proportions. One of our party wanted the calamari appetizer. It consisted of half a dozen rings and maybe 3 legs. I had vermicelli with fried tofu and two egg rolls. That was over $20. The bahm mi was $13. Although it was good that is twice what a bahn mi should cost. What added insult to injury was the interior was very shabby (but mostly clean), so you couldn't even attribute the prices to the servicescape. It looked like everything should have been half the cost.
