The grocery store is a typical Safeway that has not been refreshed.However, there is an increasing homeless presence on the north side of the north entrance on the sidewalk. They sit in a group, sometimes slumped over in a drug stupor, sometimes hanging out of their car.Not a safe store, not an inviting store. Beginnings of a blight attracter.

Both managers are racist and treat employees/customers differently depending on their race and the second manager put an infant endanger while working here! If you value the community and have ethic's please do your shopping elsewhere.

First Safeway I regularly shop at and I plan on being a regular customer as long as I live near one because they mostly have everything I'm looking for and more then anything there great prices ??!!!

Very rude cashier and service. I went in and gathered $48 dollars worth of groceries. Unfortunately, my debit card has to be put in manually. I am waiting for a new one but have not had a problem with this until now. I informed her it had to be put in manually, and she said it is store policy that they don't do that. I asked if I could take my things up to customer service so they could help me, and she said no. So I pushed my cart aside and began to walk away. As I was walking away, the cashier started laughing and told her co-workers the cart was all go backs. I di not think this is a laughing matter. I am embarrassed as it is. I called the store as I was leaving and spoke to a customer service agent who informed me yes, they could help me at customer service. I explained she needed to educate her cashiers because I was turned away completely, and I did ask to go over to customer service but was told I couldn't. I will not be shopping here again.

So this has been my go to grocery store since moving right of Oracle and orange grove. I've never had a problem. They usually have pretty good chip sales, at least for you know Cheetos and stuff and I've never had a problem with this store until this morning. I went and got about $300 worth of groceries last night (I paid only about $200 after discounts and coupons) Since it was night time, only the self checkouts were open and I went to put all my cash in the machine at once when it only takes one bill out of time and I dropped $20 on the ground. I realized about 20 minutes after I got home when I was doing the budget and saw that we're going to be $20 short so I called the store and I can't remember his name (... I wanna say Ray so he can get his props but not entirely sure) but he was super friendly at the store and on the phone he had actually found my $20 and turned it in. He told me I could come get it that night. It was about 20 minutes before closing and since I live a mile away, I was right there. Well I guess the manager, Byron, had left early with the key to the safe so I couldn't get my $20 back last night -- as a closing manager at my work i know you're not supposed to close the registers and safe until AFTER closing... But everyone remembered me and there wasn't supposed to be an issue getting my money back. Well, I show up this morning and Byron says that he won't give me my money back without a receipt which makes no sense because it fell out of my wallet. I ask him to check the security camera footage, but no he makes me go back home to get the receipt cuz he doesn't know my integrity or something like that. Anyways I come back -- I told him I was gonna be right back btw -- and I get to stand at the customer service desk for 10/15 minutes before finally Byron comes out from the back room and runs off somewhere else telling me he'll be right back. when he does finally decide to come back He looks at my receipt and almost doesn't give me my money because he said that it doesn't show I got cash back... because I didn't. It's my own personal money that fell out of my wallet, and he just kind of huffed & puffed and finally gave it back to me, but it was really an inconvenient experience and I expected more from them especially after how friendly and helpful everyone was last night. I asked him multiple times to just look at the self check out cameras but he wouldn't. I ended up driving back to Safeway three times to get my money that I worked hard for and I accidentally dropped. As much as I used to like the store, I think I'm gonna try to find a new grocery store because this really was just such a bad experience with Bryon for me. I will note though that Emily did help me at the checkout last night, and she was awesome!

If you're Mexican or of color beware coming to this store. It's always the same old white women who work there that will STARE you down at self checkout and ignore all the white people. Every. Single. Time. I even once entered a veggie item through the search option in which this old white lady proceeded to tell me I entered it under the wrong name (it was a tomatillo but they have it under 'green tomato') and then grabbed the veggie from me and started typing on our screen only to find out WE had it right. They will watch you like a HAWK. Lol so ya. Very annoying and obvious.

I like shopping at Safeway but it's extremely expensive. My favorite checker is Joe, who has been there many years. I don't like the digital coupons because I'm already using my Safeway card for discounts, I believe it's ridiculous and inconvenient.

Like the fried chicken. Also best verity of frozen foods mostly the pizza. Fresh bakery is good but usually need to get there before dinner. I think the best verity of frozen fruits and vegetables for making slushes Always seems to be clean

Store and bargains are wonderful. Unfortunately some of the employees suck. For instance the elderly woman who monitors the self check. I find her quite offensive. I don't know if it is a race thing or that she is a woman and I a man. But she comes across as very rude and not a good person for her position. She should be delightful. Happy to see any regular customer. Yet I get a bad vibe from her. One day she ask me if I purchased the items in my bag, which I just scanned and paid for right in front of her. Wow so I am being accused of stealing??? Not good. I rang up my purchase right in front of her....I like the store and Safeway or Albertsons as a whole, but not being accused of something I obviously didn't do.... maybe it is time for her to retire or at the very least learn a tactful way to speak to a paying customer.

I order groceries online frequently due to my vehicle not working. I had an Uber driver deliver to the wrong address. I reached out and talked to Vickie, and she was very friendly, helpful, and made sure the groceries got delivered correctly.

Edit: I went to buy flowers on 05-12. The clerk at the flower department was EXTREMELY rude. I thought about telling a manager right then to help them know how their employees were treating people but the check out clerk was unpleasant too. I didn't see any of the usual people that have worked there for a long time. I am guessing new management. Whatever the change, it is an awful one. I don't expect anyone to bow at my feet, just for me to be treated like a human being. I guess I need a new store...(Last review:My favorite grocery store. Lines are always short. Not over crowded. Employees are helpful. Download the app for good deals.)
