Amazing museum right in Tucson that should not be missed. Small but gorgeous collections of native weavings, famous photo works, old and new paintings, local artists, and rotating presentations of historical eras in America. Plus, insightful background is provided on all subjects. Well-informed staff. Gift shop, too. Give yourself at least a hour for this truly wonderful experience. Go!

This is far from the downtown art scene but brings some literally fine art to the Eastside. With an emphasis on Southwest painting along with a large display of indigenous textiles this is a comfortable space with a number of different rooms. When we were there one offered an interesting display of materials about Japanese internment and the connection to Tucson. Much of the art is available for purchase often at very reasonable prices. Plenty of parking and close to shopping and restaurants.

They have a really amazing collection of textiles that illustrates the history of Navajo weaving. It's not the most extensive collection I've seen, but blankets fill the walls from top to bottom.

This place is a Tucson Gem! I loved the Buffalo Soldier exhibit by David Laughlin. I hope they keep it in the next rotation.

Such an interesting museum. There is information about the impact of a number historic single women in the US which was very interesting. The woven fabrics are lovely and interesting. Many gorgeous paintings throughout. I was especially interested in the Dorothea Lange photos of people during the Dust Bowl. Also the info about the Japanese internment camps. A lot to see and learn. Great museum.

A beautiful small museum providing an excellent exhibit in Native American textiles as well as single women and art of the southwest. Today we also saw exhibit on the WWII Japanese internment camps and the Dust Bowl of the 1930s. Important exhibits to highlight these historic events. The staff at the museum are knowledgeable and very helpful. The facility is very nice with wide galleries that allow easy flow and room to move and read the excellent interpretive information. The museum has limited hours but we found it a perfect afternoon. Well worth the visit!

This place was amazing to see and well worth the drive. There is a large diverse and eclectic collection of Native American artifacts and artwork. They also have a new display called ¡Pleibol! In the Barrios and the Big Leagues which focuses on Latinos in the MLB. I highly recommend!

Hidden gem! visited with my mom + we didn't allow enough time to view everything. Will definitely be going back again soon. Nice mix of modern desert culture + cultural history. Local contemporary plein aire exhibit was an additional bonus. Very diverse... textiles, paintings, photography, sculpture, really a lot of ? fun

A gem of a museum! Small but well curated, fascinating exhibitions on a nice range of subjects from native textile weaving to desert history through art. The Dust Bowl exhibition featuring photos by Dorothea Lange was compelling while the Hollywood history of filming in the desert was quite interesting and entertaining. Lovely gift shop and wonderful art gallery. An amazingly helpful and knowledgeable staff take you under their wing when you have a question or particular interest. A great experience and must see on a visit to Tucson!

My wife and I love good art museums, so we wanted to be sure to check this one out. While the building itself was beautiful and interesting, we felt the collection was definitely on the "B" list. In addition, they were setting up for an event that evening, so there was a large gathering of loud workers in the middle of one of the galleries, which made it almost impossible to concentrate on the exhibits. Such work should have been completed outside the (limited) public hours.

Great collection of western artifacts and artwork. Also home to the Four Corners Gallery - a wonderful commercial venue for local artists to display and sell their visual art, with a room reserved for the Tucson Barrio Painters.
