How much do I hate Safeway? Let me count the ways:1) You MUST check your receipt carefully before leaving the store or some sale item will not ring up with the sale price. You'll need to go to the customer service counter to have them make adjustments.2) Their flyer is very confusing. The posted prices can be regular price items made to appear to be on sale. OR they could be items the are only on sale on Friday. OR they could be items that you need a coupon for. OR they could be items that you need to scan with a smart phone. Needless to say none of this is very senior friendly.3) Their app is every bit as confusing as their flyer and often doesn't seem to work properly. Nuff said.4) Their sale fruit & veggies will be wrinkled two days later, if not when you buy them. I picked up some broccoli crown that were very limp. I sampled several more & they were all limp. I waved a limp crown as I approached a produce guy. He was embarrassed and check a box on his cart. As he pulled one out I could see that it too was limp. I patted his shoulder & said I appreciate that you tried & I walked away.5) Their sale meat usually sold in "value packs" isn't much better. The pork chops that are visible look great nice & evenly sliced. Underneath is a different story. Yes, this is a fairly common practice, But at Safeway it's taken to an extreme with knarly cuts of varied thickness and sometimes half bone & fat that are impossible to cook properly.6) Their Albertsons stores are not any better. I've had T-bone steak from them that were L-shaped. No doubt the butcher cut off the tenderloin part of the steak, bone and all. The manager fiercely denied the evidence.7) It's NOT the consumers' job to scan items with phones or at self-checkout, period.8) Unfortunately it's right across the street, but whenever I can I go to Trader Joe or Sprouts where they value their customers.

Terrible customer service! The employees are not nice. The guy that works the self check in the morning is super rude if you ask him for help . Hire new people that know how to interact with customers. I live close so I shop there out of convenience but not anymore. I'll drive to bashas or frys instead.

Getting really stupid. Funneling everyone into self checkout lines by keeping almost no staffed checkout stations open. Waiting in line for ten minutes just to check out. Bashas is way way better.

I don't quite understand the bad reviews of this store? It is unfortunately, the only grocery store in a 5+ mile radius to Swan & Sunrise, so I guess if you don't like it, find another store. I have found that for the most part, they aren't out of items other than sometimes specific products are in low supply such as certain soda's. My gripe with the place is being unable to order certain items that they carry in their other stores outside of Arizona. Shaws, which is what Safeway is called in the Northeast, sells "light cream" and Temp Tee whipped cream cheese, but when i called the store to see if I could order a "case" to make it worth their time to order, I was told no, sorry, they cannot order special items like that, even though Temp Tee Cream Cheese is made by Kraft... seems easy enough. The light cream makes a little more sense because it was explained to me that they have regional dairies, so they likely cannot get light cream, even though they sell it at other stores. This is also one of the few stores that you can usually get Passover or Hanukkah items from time to time, something you can't easily do at other stores. so for that alone, they rate better than "couldve been better" Another reviewer mentioned that people couldn't figure out where certain items are... that's today's world, people seem to change jobs like changing underwear these days. I guess having shopped at this store for over five years, I know where everything is in the store. Maybe get the app? I know that they generally say what aisle a specific item is in the store. With regards to the complaints about the app, it's strange that people complain about it... not a week goes by where I don't get a notification of an update to both the Safeway and Albertsons app in the IOS Store. While not a perfect supermarket, it's not the worst in Tucson.

Terrible customer service at the Sunrise Location. I asked Dawn (in a Safeway apron) where the fresh salsa is located. Without looking up, she said she doesn't know because she doesn't eat Mexican food. I asked Tina (also in a Safeway apron) and she pointed in the direction across the store. I couldn't find it, so I went to a cashier and she called someone to help. Three people to find salsa? There isn't even a customer service form to file a complaint at the service desk or on line.

Don't use Safeway if you need groceries delivered! Stephen was polite and very courteous, but the Safeway store NEVER has all the items advertised in stock. Can you imagine a grocery store with several locations who advertises soup or bacon on their website and yet has none? This is the 3rd and last time I depend on this horrible store for groceries! I wonder how many Fry's stores, Trader Joe's grocery stores or Target stores there are in Tucson? Guess I'll have to find out since Safeway's service is so poor. Shame on you Safeway for deceiving your customers! It's obvious that customer loyalty means nothing to you.

Just had the worst, most disgusting experience in this store this morning with employee Jill F that was working the customer service desk. The most sarcastic condescending worker in the customer service field I have ever met. Her 36 years working there and "employee of the month" award (which yes she threw in my face during her rant lol) are un justified. She was sarcastically laughing with employee in the back room while printing my money orders, yelling things like "you don't have to buy them here" "banks charge 10 bucks" the attitude given to a customer over a simple inquiry on charges I am being charged is honestly mind blowing and should never happen under any circumstance. This worker should not be in any area that customer interaction is possible, I dread the thought of anyone else receiving the attitude I received. Never have felt so discriminated against. Really a shame. STAY AWAY FORM JILL F. Needless to say I will continue telling my experience on every social media platform and will never set foot in a Safeway again.

I go here about 2 x weekly sometimes more. Everything is clean everyone is so sweet. Everything they have is really fresh. Everything is usually stocked. Only a few times they didn't have some stuffed mushrooms and the type of peanut butter I perfected but there were still more options .I've used self check out it always works. The lines are always at a minimum if there's even a line and if I go through regular check out everyone is patient and kind. I love that this is the closest grocery store to me :) .

Ppl complain about the lamest things like not enough lanes open. Rolling eyes. Most stores don't have enough open. One star for one 50yr old woman at customer service whom was "unpleasant" LOL - maybe she had an off day. But keep b*#%** Bc something didn't go right for you at the store. The store is fine. Just like most. Better sometimes Bc the clientele is mixed and not just stuck up old white ppl like in Oro Valley. Probably republicans.

This Safeway is always a pleasant experience. The staff is always professional, polite and really go out of their way. I was craving a margarita all day so I stopped by to pick up tequila and mix. While standing in line, a gentleman brought over a bottle and mix with a promo going on of a Buy the Bottle, Get the Mix Free all to save me a few bucks! It saved me like $10! I found out his name is Jesse. Thank you so much Jesse!!

I'm giving Safeway 3/5 stars. That's the same number of times they've screwed up either the pick up or delivery order. Three out of 5 times. Today, more than half of the order was missing. Last time, customer service (through online chat) said they cancelled my order. When I called customer service, they said no it was ok. The time before that, they had a computer problem and it was about 30 hours before I got my order delivered. At this point, I'm not sure why I want to shop there anymore. We don't shop in person due to co-vid. Whole Foods has NEVER screwed up an order. Lund's and Byerlys (Minnesota) screwed up an order once and bent over backwards to fix it, including delivering the item to me and crediting my entire order. Safeway's response? Sorry, we can't help you. Don't get me wrong. We like Safeway to shop in. But that's just not happening right now. They need to step up their game. I'm afraid they've lost me until the pandemic is over or I've had my shot.

Stores are fine but we ordered delivery for the first time. 1 1/2 hours late and missing a few items. Such a disappointing experience.. Customer service was useless.

This is my neighbor store but haven't enjoyed shopping here during COVID. Only one of the two entrances are open. I was told this was to allow an employee to count those going in and out. (Haven't seen anyone counting since spring) when I went today, i walked in grabbed a clean cart and waited for a bit as person after person kept coming from the checkouts to leave and I could get my cart moved. It is so crowded with people going in and out the same entrance, there is no way you can social distance. No one follows the one way aisle signs, I appreciate Safeway trying to do that for our safety. I just don't get why one door can't be an entrance and the other an exit.

Delivery service not good. 5 items they didn’t have but didn’t call to see what they could replace with. Other stores will contact you for a substitution. When order arrived I was missing items that I was charged for. They will refund but it wasn’t a convenient experience.

It’s a good place to buy quick essentials. I live close by so it’s convenient on my way home. I don’t always buy my big grocery list here, but the staff is always friendly and helpful.
