Pet Care

Cochise County Animal Hospital
1250 Fort Grant Rd, WillcoxMy dog wasn't eating and obviously in pain. I tried to get her scheduled in on a Saturday at a Coronado in Sierra Vista. They said they could schedule her between appointments, but would charge me a $250 emergency fee that did NOT cover the $85 office visit or any treatment costs. I called Cochise County, and they told me to bring her right in. The office charge was $85. Dr. Petcu examined my dog, and gave me an itemized list of possible treatments that might help determine what was wrong. There was no way I could afford the battery of tests. He advised that we start with an antibiotic injection and a painkiller injection ($89 each). He also prescribed meds to take home (another charge). I dropped $300 on the visit, but my dog does seem to be improving. I would definitely recommend Dr. Petcu. He took his time and was very precise in what he thought needed to be done.

Roadrunner Kafé (Café)
700 Virginia Ave, WillcoxThis little cafe was such an unexpected little gem! Just the kind of place my husband and I were looking for after a long day of traveling. I can see how it could easily be missed since it's past the main truck stop and part of a KOA campground, but just watch for the signs. Totally worth visiting.

Double S Steakhouse
1201 W Rex Allen Dr, WillcoxWe drove 11 hours from Texas and stopped in Wilcox for the night. Researched restaurants about an hour before we got here and thought this place would hit the spot. Walked in and immediately new this place was going to be great. Tristin was holding court manning all the tables, but still immediately greeted us. He was amazing and super helpful with the menu. I ordered the Prime Rib with mashed potatoes and green beans with bacon and onion. It was amazing! Not only cooked perfectly, but the seasoning and flavor including the quality of beef was really good. The homemade horseradish sauce was also a hit. My husband ordered a burger and fries. Fries are fresh in-house I think, at least that's the way they tasted and looked, not greasy at all. The 1/2 pound patty was also delicious. A bonus is they have a local wine on the menu that was also a nice surprise. This place definitely deserves a visit. We travel a lot and when you're stopping in random towns, quality food is usually not available. This restaurant clearly cares about their customers regardless of being local or passing through and their quality of food speaks for itself. Thank you Tristin, see you again on our next trip!
