We visited the Yuma Territorial Prison. The Yuma Territorial Prison is a former prison in Yuma, Arizona that opened in 1876 and closed in 1909. It is now a museum and state historic park that includes a gift shop and interactive exhibits. Crimes ranged from murder to adultery. Several movies have included the prison, 'To Kill a Memory' (2012), '3:10 to Yuma' (2007), 'Riot' (1969), 'The Badlanders' (1958), 'Red River Valley' (1936), and 'The Three Musketeers' (1933).

This area and structures inspired The Criminals. You must go here to understand "modern day" Yuma. And know the area had thousands of years of history before....?Restrooms: The restrooms are back in the museum building!.

Museum displays their items with care. Nicely done quality showcases displayed with terrific items to view. Not shiny, new or contemporary. Its a classic older museum/well maintained and quite a vast inventory of items to learn about. To maximize your visit be sure to take the tour of the prison with a guide. I did not but should have.

This was a pretty cool visit. This prison was really ahead of its time, in regards to positive prison reform. They had the largest library at the time and they focused on helping the criminals transition back to "law abiding citizens". The public was also allowed to use the library when the prisoners went to their cells. One place you must go see here is The Dark Cell......
