We attended the Larry McMurtry live radio show at the Momentary this Friday, January 12 and the show was excellent, well organized and the performers were all amazing, but our experience was a little marred by the cameraman standing in the middle of the aisle, blocking our full view of the stage. The performance was outstanding, but the obstructed sightline was disappointing. He was positioned at about row three so anyone sitting behind him had an obstructed view. In the future, please have him be seated or position him at the back of the aisle with a better camera ( I think he was shooting w a cell phone)

The potential additional star falls ironically, not ironically, because a backpack on the back placed in the front redefines a thoughtless thought into a reminder that, even if an experience of The Momentary nature, there is so much beauty in art when willing to be open to The Momentary art.P.S. I can't wait to come back, for The Momentary is constantly waiting in transit, is it not.

I like the idea and mission of Momentary and almost everything about it... except the Amazonian exhibit I saw 11/21/2023. It is horrific. I guess by design.I recommend everything but the Amazon exhibit. The gift shop is excellent the coffee is world class. The beeple is a must see. Regular musical events are the most impressive. The recent exhibit is graded fairly as a solid F+ and lazy. The photography appears technically impressive but is ultimately one dimensional and is little more than a psychedelic geology text book and not worthy of more than one room, maximum. The middle film space is PBS on acid and amateurish--unwatchable like a 60's art school film. The final segment is an immense serpentine noise speaker and zoo. Its pretentiousness is surpassed only by its absurdity and arrogance. The sole goal of the noise appears to be the torture of helpless rare live amazonian catfish. It is a disgusting soundtrack to a grotesque aquatic zoo. The artist's explanation is semantic sophistry that cannot reverse the obvious horror. The label of Art doesn't make it less repulsive. We left disgusted and supremely bummed out. Mission accomplished?Aweful vibes but without any sense of what you are signing up for.

The Monetary is a museum of great contemporary art and performance pieces. It’s a fun place to hang out with the family, your favorite person or special friend or just by yourself as you study the work and contemplate the meaning. You can also grab a bite to eat or get something to drink. To enjoy a cocktail and fantastic views of the museum frowns and city head to the Tower Bar atop the Momentary. Before you leave you can pick up a souvenir or keepsake from the gift shop conveniently located near the front door.

As an art space The Momentary is very cool and I greatly appreciate that they are not afraid to take an actual stance with the pieces they are showing and the shows they put on. However as a music venue... I feel very differently. The Momentary charges a $25 handling fee for you to purchase tickets to their own shows from their own website. This is an electronic ticket that is emailed to you by an automated service. There is no handling. This charge is also applied if you buy your tickets in person, there is no escaping it. Again, this is applied to tickets you are buying from their own website, to attend their own show. Absolutely spectacular levels of greed, not sure why I'm surprised.

I didn't get to be there for live music, but the large installation that is currently there is a fantastic fantasy scape.I also enjoyed some of the industrial installations they have. Some of the other stuff was not my favorite but I have a lot of respect and gratitude for their vision and what they are sharing with us and for making themselves vulnerable through their art.

First time visitor when I went to a concert. Only one way into the facility which is unusual for concerts. But once the gates opened it flowed easily. Bring your own blanket or lawn chair unless you plan to stand. We chose to stand all night as we like to be in the front as close to the act as possible. Since we got there early we got front row seats and stood the entire time. The sound was amazing, the weather was pretty decent for mid July. I looked forward to attending another concert again.

The Momentary is such a neat place, it's free, and there's always new exhibits to check out! If you follow their Facebook, they post all of their upcoming events, which there are many. They often do concerts in the large garden area or live artist performances. Also, it you visit around meal time there is an onyx coffee shop, a yummy food truck, and a small bar all within the area.
