Good bank for just a checking account. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because Katie was super nice and as much help as she could be...that is the only thing that is good for this branch/bank. I'm 19 years old and a member of the National Guard, when I had just turned 18 I got a secured credit card from there. I put a $500 CD as collateral. The CD also had a standard 10 grace period to be released or the CD would automatically renew. I was told by the employee working that after 1 year if I had kept good credit I could have that card unsecured and receive my $500. We'll that year had passed and I went in and tried to have the security removed on the card on the maturity date. I spend an hour the first day filling out another application for another unsecured card. I was also told that I would be contacted within 2 days for approval. On the 3 day of waiting I called them and they said I had a letter of approval in the mail. I received the letter the next day. The letter stated I had a superb credit score, but failed to receive approval. I called on the 4 day of the 10 day grace period and spend 20 minutes trying to get a hold of the person in charge so they could explain why I wasn't approved. He said he would have to look into and I needed to call back. Well I called the next day and he wasn't there. Now the weekend came upon and I had to wait till that Monday. I called on Monday and he said I only had one line of credit and it was too big of a risk (I had never missed or been late on a payment). He also said I needed another credit card or buy a house or car. I have paid cash for my cars and currently have money in a mutual fund. I am also an economics major in college. I told him the information and he continually told me that it wasn't enough. He then stated that almost any other bank or credit card company would give me one, but they couldn't. I then asked how I could close the account to receive the $500 CD. I had to balance out the account then they would release the money. I balanced out my account before work on the 8th day of the grade period. They said I would receive a call stating the closing of the account . I came back the next day (day 9) and asked why I didn't receive a call. The person helping me had to call the guy in charge to ask why. He was in a meeting and it should be over with shortly. I waited for an hour, then called the office the guy was in and asked to speak to him. The receptionist told me it would be another hour before he would be out. I waited for another hour, then finally they got ahold of him. He said that I still had $3 I owe on my account. I payed the account and asked for my $500 to be transferred to my checking's account. They said it couldn't be transferred until 2 more days (after the grave period ended). I then had to get a contract saying that I would not be fined for being after the grave period. Day 11 comes along and I checked my accounts (around noon) to see if it had been transferred. It still hadn't been transferred. I then call the bank to find the problem and they said I had a credit on my account...I had over paid. They said I would have to call again later that afternoon to check if it had been transferred. Finally after 11 days I had my money back. I will be ending all ties with this bank very shortly!!
