Very sweet owners. They retired and permanently closed shop.

Nice place with nice people but it is closing about the end of August so the selection is dwindling. However, the ice cream was divine.

We had some tasty ice cream there. As for the rest of the review, I think there was a genuine misunderstanding. I originally wrote a 3-star review because I saw a sign in the ice-cream area that said "cash only" but I explicitly asked if I could pay with a credit card in the fashion area, and was told I can. Once we got the product, I went to pay and felt like I was given a "grumpy attitude" when I told the other cashier in the fashion area that the ice-cream attendant directed me over here. This is an edit of that review. Here's the more-to-the story: You see, American Express is doing a summer promotion to "shop small" -- you can pay $10 or more with an American Express card and get a $5 statement credit if it's an approved small business (expires end of September 2020). I found the Sweet Shoppe there on the Amex shop small site! (see screenshot attached) -- of course, if the American Express website says you're part of this promotion, one would assume I can pay with American Express! (You have to pay with your AMEX card to get the promotion!)When I got there and saw the "Cash only" sign on the register nearest the ice cream, I was a bit disappointed, which is why I went out of my way to ask if I could use a credit card at the other register (of course they had every right to say no, but didn't). Then, to be told "[sigh] we normally don't do this ... no, you can't use Apple Pay [my Amex is saved on Apple pay] ..." with no other comment, and a generally curt reply. (since I could only use my backup credit card, I didn't get my $5 credit), it was kind of a disappointment. I can totally see the store's perspective. I know credit cards cost the merchant a swipe fee plus a small percentage. On a $12 spend, that probably eats up all the profit. On the other hand, I can hope my perspective is appreciated. I went here specifically because of the Amex "Shop Small" promotion [where Amex essentially told me to go shop there with their credit card!] and then made sure to ask if it was OK to use a card before having my ice cream scooped -- and not only did I not get my $5 credit (since they don't take Apple pay), but, I was made to feel like I was being obnoxious for trying. In the scope of life, of course it's silly to get worked up over a $5 rebate. I'll change this to a 4-star review as a show of good faith.Probably the best thing would be for the business to contact American Express and let them know you don't want to be listed as one of their approved small businesses! Like I said, likely just a misunderstanding because I'm guessing The Sweet Shoppe didn't even know Amex was promoting them in this way!

The shop has some really cute clothes and shoes. Right now they a have 75% off sale. Some of the new items are less than Amazon. Some are more. The ice cream & fudge were good. I wonder how often it turns over though... Not lots of customers.

Interesting boutique with attached ice cream and fudge shop. We bought A pound of fudge and the owner gave us this older, stale previously cut piece. We noted that she charged for a full pound but the scale only registered at 9/10 of a pound. you can see here that it snapped in half and was very dry. When I called to see if she would make things right she said all she could do was offer an apology. Wasted $10 here and do not recommend the shop.
