I was only interested in doing nails was lied to and had to take the whole cosmetology course. Then was kicked out after 3 month because I took a week off when my son had a medical emergency, for not taking my schooling seriously. She said “it sounds like you’re not in the right place to go back to school with kids” then billed me the full amount.

I was a student and client at Academy of salon and spa so I know both sides in and out and have lots of trauma and PTSD from this place from the beginning I knew there was bad vibes but adisyn the student doing my hair said everything was fine and I believed her and went ahead and applied for school not knowing that this would be the worst 6 months of my entire life! Let’s talk about it! So from the start at the interview it’s cold and snowy I think at the time it was about 12 degrees so that gives you an idea how cold it was we arrive early and had to wait for Trish for about 20 minutes she was busy helping students because at that time she was the only instructor there for cosmetology anyway interview went fine until the end she looks me dead in the eyes and says what you’re wearing you’ll never be successful dressing like that I was in joggers and a sweater she was wearing leggings and sweater 🤔 but let that slide . It got worse as time went on Trish made every single day a living nightmare there were multiple times she made fun of my weight and medical issues like saying me and this other girl were to big to stand in the middle and made both of us be on the side. Trish told the entire class that I have epilepsy made me tell them what medication to the people that aren’t aware that’s a hippa violation but again let that slide as well because I felt there was nothing I could say or do ! Trish also had problems with talking about you behind your back to students clients and staff didn’t care if you found out or not ! Sadly but continuing on there where multiple times I was forced to do clients that needed to see a doctor EX: fungus Infected toe nails that would crack and break off from just the file , I had a men’s cut one day and his head was bleeding there was a open wound still was told to cut his hair so the school wouldn’t lose any money. Trish and Alan are both money hungry ! Somehow with all the money they have we didn’t have paper towels in the bathroom or break room also no plastic silverware so if you forgot your fork well you’re SOL . State board told Trish we needed paper towels in bathroom and nothing was done about it talking about state board they are only supposed to come once a year to do a yearly inspection and in the month of April state board came to Academy salon & spa 4 different times. Anyway I wanted to share just a little bit of my story and I hope that helps I know I can’t tell anyone what to do but for your own safety please do not go here I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy I can never get those 6 months back I’ll always have the trauma and ptsd from this hell if you read all of this thanks for reading some of my story I hope this helps

Today was my birthday and I made the decision to go here for a facial and haircut as a treat. I am SO glad I did that with my day. Not only was my facial extremely relaxing but Chloe was so knowledgeable and talked to me on a personal level which connected with me and made me feel so safe. I am so excited to see her go on to become an amazing and independent skin specialist!
Megan was my hair stylist today and she was beyond wonderful in her eagerness to try something new on my hair today. She was so excited to learn and her instructor (the owner) was very hands on and personable with both of us the entire time I was in the chair. Megan is going to become an amazing stylist and be very successful due to her communication skills and willingness to learn about you as a person while you’re in her hands!
Checking out, I made friends with the receptionist and felt like the entire staff and students were all excited that I spent my morning with them. I truly enjoyed my time and cannot wait to be back. Great job to the owner of this wonderful school, you really have an amazing business! I’ll be recommending this school to anyone and everyone who either needs to find a new career or just needs a spa day!

I needed help washing my hair during multiple panic attacks, and they got me in the same day. They were all very kind and the lady that did my hair was very gentle.

Terrible toxic environment! Hearing from mutual friends. They do not want to help student growth, the administrator portrays to be professional, but she speaks very condescending to her students and gossips.If you’re looking to go into cosmetology or be an esthetician GO TO CAREERS ACADEMY! A different school! This school traps you in a money hole, and does not set you up for success but for FREAKING DEBT! You won’t learn a damn thing because they can’t keep a damn instructor.

My session was fantastic. I had the dermaplane and my face is so smooth now. I bet my makeup goes on smooth and looks better. Mackenzie Howald really knows what she is doing. Please ask for her remember Tues is half price on everything. Wait until she does a facial on you. I guarantee you will not find a better one no matter where u go. Manager/Owner is incredibly rude. My significant other voluntarily came to be a part of the training for the students there at the academy. By voluntarily I mean drove 80 miles and was willing to pay for the service in efforts to support a friend that attends the school. Unfortunately this meant she would have to bring our 5 month old baby with her. This was a drastic error in the eyes of the Manager/Owner. The manager decided to berate her in front of the entire salon for this inexcusable action. She then pulled the front desk admin into the lobby and continued to berate her in front of everyone as well for allowing the baby to be brought into the treatment area of the salon. Never mind the fact that she, the manager, opened a curtain on one of the women in the changing room to confront them about the baby. Without announcing or knocking, clearly invading this individual’s privacy.As an individual that has hair and has frequented a salon regularly for the last 30 years I can say that I have seen a baby or small child in every single salon and spa that I have ever entered. What are you teaching your students? I also hope that the students in training here do not learn this type of management style from the owner as they will clearly have a hard time being successful and respected in their careers.If you are looking for an academy to attend I would highly suggest a different one than this establishment.Trish, treat people better. You run a company that provides a service that is 100% about customer service and satisfaction.

Exceeded my expectations! With students still in training it often gets a bad rep; however, I took a chance! Not only did they get me exactly what I wanted, but also time and effort was put into it too! Down to every little detail! Will be going back for more services!
