“Needs outdoor lighting. Old run down store. No bathroom. Out of stock on some items for months. Good employees but they don't have enough people to keep the store stocked. It's a shame dollar general keeps this store open if they're not going to invest in it. They can built a new one right up the road and keep it looking like opening day but not this dollar general.”
“This store has been getting better and better over the past six months. It’s cleaner that it’s been in the past the service Friendlier and it’s just as a more welcoming atmosphere. Today I was taken back by the amazing service that were reserved from Tyler! He went above and beyond what I’ve seen anybody do in a very long time he was not only friendly and Helpful to me but also to the lady behind me who had mentioned she just had heart surgery and was unable to carry more than a gallon of milk! He called for back up and then after he checked the lady out he picked up her cokes and carried them to her vehicle! Not being asked simply just did it he also helped my daughter and I with five dollar coupon since I couldn’t find mine and it was Saturday saving us both money and it was just an overall great experience! I cannot say enough good things about him I think to the world needs more people like him! He definitely made my day better and restored my faith in humanity!”
“My sister & I live in Midway. We frequent this store often and have found it to be a great place to find all kinds of value buys as well as a helpful and a friendly staff! Certainly, we have ready access to the widely known Giants of retail in Mountain Home such as Walmart "More For Less" ... but have long since discovered the exhausting chaos they put on a person who goes in there. No thank you!!! ??All the people who work at this Dollar General we've met are just great but ... the most outstanding employee is Barb, "hands down"! We never fail to see her stocking, sorting, unloading carts full of heavy merchandise ... and readily there if a customer needs assistance. This woman is amazing! Polished, cheerful, informative and is an exemplary example of someone who not on values their job but her role in supporting the public's retail needs!Today when we came in, Barb was "manning the front register". We were again "caught back" by how clean, well stocked and organized the place was! It usually is but today it felt especially refreshing to shop since we had many, many things to purchase.We're both retired, had businesses thru the years and recognize the tremendous commitment & patience it takes to work retail. Burlington Stores is giving its locations a major makeover. The off-price retailer has already transformed about half of its 1,115 stores and plans to complete the redesign across its entire fleet by the end of 2026. The company calls this makeover "Store Experience 2.0." Gone are the cramped aisles and confusing layouts that once defined discount shopping. Instead, Burlington is creating wider walkways, organized sections, and clearer signs to help shoppers find what they need.
Dollar General is adding more of its private label food offerings to stores, following similar moves by big retailers like Walmart and Amazon as store brands keep growing in popularity. The store is launching new items under its own labels, including ice cream, cinnamon rolls, coffee syrups, and salad dressings. The move comes as store brand sales reached $271 billion in 2024, up nearly 4% from 2023.
Daiso, the beloved Japanese retailer known for its variety of affordable household goods, is expanding further in the U.S. market. This week, the company is celebrating the grand openings of three new stores in Texas and California. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Daiso debuted an 8,000-sq.-ft. location in Beaumont, Texas, at Dowlen Towne Center, as well as two Southern California stores - a 6,319-sq.-ft. space in Van Nuys at Mid Valley Marketplace and a 5,200-sq.-ft. store in Westminster at Westminster Center.
Dollar Tree is moving into 170 former 99 Cents Only stores, marking a big shift in the discount retail landscape. The company announced Wednesday it's taking over leases in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, with plans to reopen the stores under its own brand as early as fall 2024.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet just landed a great deal of its own, winning a $14.6 million bankruptcy auction for 11 former 99 Cents Only store locations across Texas. The discount retail chain pounced after 99 Cents Only abruptly went out of business in March, shuttering all 371 of its stores in California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. Ollie's quickly made an opening "stalking horse bid" to grab over a dozen of the empty properties.
