I was verbally attacked today, February 24th 2018 by Robert Bowen who is the storage coordinator at the Penske units and will be filing a complaint against him. I reserved my storage unit well over a month ago and was told by Robert that the lady who was in the unit before me was coming in that week to remove her lock. Fast forward to today. Here I am, trying to move my things in (having already paid my deposit and first months rent welllll ahead of time) and come upon the lock still being on the unit. I proceed to call Robert and he told me that he would be right out to remove the lock. Ten minutes go by, twenty minutes rolling. And I am still WAITING in the pouring rain for him to remove the lock. I then decide to call him to let him know that I was waiting on him outside. He tells me that I need to wait because he has customers and is busy and then proceeds to HANG UP ON ME. YES, me, a paying customer. So I told my friend to drive up front and I went inside Textbook brokers. This is my third time renting here and I will NOT be renting again. I go inside and I approach Robert and told him "you hung up the phone on me". He then tells me that "as of now I am evicting you". I don't know who he think he was talking to because I am NOT the one to try. He then goes to the back of the store and starts to put in my eviction notice online. I told him "if you're going to evict me, I want my money back". He scoffs at me and says that he is not refunding me anything. At this point I am PISSED. You had me waiting for over 20minutes, in the rain, didn't give me a specific time that you would get back to me, and had the audacity to say that he would not refund me. He also threatened to call the police and was hostile towards me, a paying customer, and asked me to vacate the store, which I did. I definitely think he was biased and racist towards me. I am a black, international student and will be letting the appropriate people know, that I will be filing something against him for his lack of professionalism, racist attitude toward me and not refunding my money. My "white" friend then goes in to speak with him and she got my refund back. It's 2018 and I know racism is alive and well but to have this in my face, today; was trying and I am absolutely FED UP. Textbook brokers will be hearing from me! I wish I could give this a zero rating.
