Recently on a couples trip to see the eclipse in Hot Springs. Five of us decided to take a ride through the countryside. After about a 40 minute ride through some of the most beautiful part of Arkansas, we stumbled upon the Holis country store. We were welcomed with open arms by the owners and the five of us spent the next hour, enjoying fried bologna sandwiches and hearing about the history of such a wonderful place. If you are ever in the Hollis area north of Hot Springs, you have to stop here. It is a soul restoring touch of America that is hard to find sometimes. And yes, the bologna sandwiches were out of this world. We spent five days in the area and enjoyed a spectacular total eclipse on Monday, April 8. As we were all headed home on Tuesday the ninth the debate raged on what was the High Point of our journey. There were only two choices. One was an awesome celestial event, and the other was the Hollis country store.

My husband and I stopped in for lunch. He can’t quit raving about the fried bologna sandwich he had! The next day he was still talking about how good it was! I had a grilled cheese made with pepper Jack cheese and it was very good, too. We really enjoyed our visit to the store!

Friendly owners and the best fried bologna sandwich you'll find anywhere. We stopped a few days ago for the first time, and this will be one of our regular stops on the way home from Branson. We have passed this store many times, and our only regret is that we didn't stop sooner.

Stopped in on my way from Little Rock to Mt Magazine, boy was it not a disappointment! Family owned 3 generations by a husband and wife who are originally from Arkansas but drive 4 hours from Oklahoma to run this shop. Though the bologna sandwich is hard to beat, its the experience that really cements it as the essential stop of any road trip going through this part of Arkansas.

Convenient stop for drinks and snacks. Still has old, analog gas pumps. Right off the highway with easy access and exit.

Stopped in during a drive through the area. Got a bologna sandwich which was very good and also left with a moon pie and RC cola. If you get the chance you need to stop.
