About Powhatan Historic State Park

Powhatan Historic State Park is a nice, quiet historical park on the beautiful Black River. It is a very interesting historic site full of history of Arkansas, featuring cool old buildings on site like the courthouse and an old schoolhouse. The courthouse on the hill provides an amazing view and doubles as the visitor center with very interesting exhibits. Park interpreters are extremely helpful, engaging, enthusiastic, and a wealth of knowledge, offering wonderful educational programs. It is a good spot for a break with shaded picnic tables. Visitors should note there are no walking or hiking trails nearby. The park offers a stamp for the Arkansas State Park Club 52. Restrooms are very clean, though they may sometimes be out of soap and towels. It may not be a great place to bring a furry friend. It is worth a day trip, and many recommend also seeing the nearby Davidsonville State Park.
