I am not currently an Arvest account owner, and now will never be. I don't have a local branch of my main bank and needed a cashier's check. I called Arvest's customer service corporate number, and the associate initially told me that they would not do a cashier's check for someone who wasn't a customer, but she asked me to hold while she did some research. She came back and thanked me for asking that question because she learned that they would do it as long as the person was willing to pay the $8 fee. I said "Great!" I went and withdrew enough money to cover the check and fee, incurring nearly $16 in withdrawal fees to do so, drove to the bank, and was told by the branch manager that they wouldn't do it. I asked her to please verify this, that the customer service person I spoke with earlier said they would, and she refused. She just smiled and said she was the branch manager and she knows the policies. She wouldn't show me anything in writing and she refused to escalate the question to anyone higher up. Only when I, while still standing in their lobby, called customer service back did she pull out some paperwork showing that they wouldn't do that for non-customers. The second customer service person I spoke to confirmed the branch manager's position and contradicted what the first customer service person told me earlier that day. This second customer service person also suggested I file a complaint on the first customer service person, which I did, and then filed one on the branch. Honestly, it wouldn't have been that big of a problem if the branch manager wouldn't have been so dismissive. I have been considering opening an account at a bank with local branches now that mine no longer has one, but I absolutely will not be using Arvest.

They're always really nice and helpful. I've been with this bank for over 20 years and never had a problem.

Joshua Chenault worked with me and is by far one of the most professional people I have ever dealt with. He went above and beyond to even explain to me some benefits I could take advantage of while working through paperwork that I had overlooked. He was extremely knowledgeable not only about what would benefit me best at the moment as far as my credit results, but other areas I could look into that could make future credit more easily approved and possibly higher. Felt less like bank business and more like a person fit for his job and cared to help.
