“Planted 2.5 acres of mangers mix forage soybeans last June 2023 .. Two days after planting I fenced off entire field with two strands of electric fence…My thought was this would keep my deer herd at bay long enough , to allow the new beans a good start… Little did I know shortly after sprouting it’s like the deer could sense these beans….After roughly 3 weeks I went assessed the damage an it was significant enough for me to think there was little to no hope on this field ever producing anything … My wife talked me into making a dummy an putting in the middle of the field …Needless to say the dummy turned out to be pretty good , enough for people to honk their horns as they drove past thinking I was out walking my fields…Well this dummy sealed the deal an allowed the beans to get another start, the field did everything it was suppose to do an more … I had an average of 18 deer in this field almost every evening through July an august … and just kept producing forage clear up til 2nd frost … After that it had enough bean pods to last up into mid January. In late winter looked Like hog paths through the beans where the deer were browsing on bean pods….
