Our dog had a medical issue come up early in a stay at the Ranch (nothing to do with his visit there). Karen, the owner, called us immediately and outlined the situation, her concerns and to get our input on next steps. She was amazing at taking the lead and making sure our pup could be seen by a vet as quickly as possible. Karen went out of her way to find a vet that could see our pup on short notice. She drove him to North Van and made sure he had the care he needed and we were kept up to date. We had peace of mind that he was in good hands until we could get home the next day. We truly appreciated Karen’s kindness and diligence with this situation. We highly recommend the Ranch for boarding— our dog has had several great stays and will be back next time we travel.

Our pup has been here for stays many times over the past 10 years - it is the only place he goes when we can’t bring him with us on vacation! The Ranch was recommended to us initially by friends who had sent their dogs there, and Karen and the team have given Rufus a wonderful, safe and secure experience every time since. He mopes around our house for a day or two after each visit - we think because he misses his friends and all the freedom and fun times. I have no hesitation in recommending Bowen Island Dog Ranch to anyone who needs boarding for their furbaby.

My dog’s happy place! I think she has a better vacation at the Dog Ranch than we do when we go away.

Edit: Ownership has changed, and I have switched kennels. Upon inquiring about availability I was told my dog was not welcome there, which was a shock to me,considering I had a reservation for April 2020, we had to cancel due to covid. When I questioned why, they said we were told this at pick up last time and that they even had to charge us more for my dogs last stay. I asked what had happened and they were unable to give any details, (I have a 20lb dachshund cross that is not aggressive at all) I reviewed my records and we were not charged more nor told there were any issues. After a few phone calls trying to get more information the manager then sent me an email stating they would like us to take him for a "trial night" (at our expense) before making any further reservations. Prior to this my dog had been there 5+ times and loved it but sadly the new team there can't seem to get there act together. Not to mention the price has increased significantly which isnt a problem if it was the same level of service and care we once received. Hopefully they treat the animals better than they treat people over the phone.Original review. I wouldn't leave my dog anywhere else! Our dog loves going to "camp" as we call it in our house. We are able to relax on our holidays knowing that our dog is safe and looked after while enjoying his little getaway too.

I have had a professional relationship with Karen for over 10 years and throughout that entire time it has always been clear that her top priority is the dogs health and happiness. She is truly dedicated to her profession and the Dog Ranch is an amazing place.

We have brought our two dogs here for years. We wouldn't take them anywhere else. Karen is amazing and loves and cares for them like they were her own.

Given the price I had high hopes for my dogs stay at the ranch, the free play woodsy atmosphere sounded right up her alley but unfortunately my dog is still suffering trauma from her stay here. This was the first time I used a boarding service and will also be the last. If you have a dog that has any type of special needs (emotional) or handling (anxiety, fears) this not the place for your pet. I spent a good hour filling all the intake forms which apparently no one even took the time to read or they would not have placed my dog in a situation that caused her fear and to suffer PTSD. I think there are just too many dogs at one time for any personal attention here, so if you have a dog that can hold their own you'll probably be fine, but if your pet is a sensitive type I'd look elsewhere.

Denali, our one year old husky-mal just spent four weeks at the Ranch to learn some manners. We can't believe how much calmer and more responsive he is since being there. It is now a pleasure to walk him on a leash and not have him lunge at every person sees. Carey and her team are amazing, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone wanting a better behaved dog.

Our six month old Vizsla puppy just spent two weeks at the dog ranch with Carey and crew. She was a complete maniac who we had barely been able to teach to sit before the ranch. She is a completely new dog now after her two weeks. Much calmer and has learned to sit, stay, lie down and go to her bed. On top of this she is perfectly crate trained which we had also struggled with.I can't say enough good things about our experience. I feel like we are now equipped to continue our girls training. We will be life long customers and would never consider taking our pup anywhere else.

Our dog Gus got banned apparently because he growled at the others. It was just how he played. I’ve seen plenty of other dogs do the same thing while playing. He was only ever super friendly and never had any history of violence against any other dogs or people. Super gentle mouth, but he would rough house especially if he met another playful dog his size. If anything he’d always get bullied by the smaller breeds and he knew not to roughhouse with dogs smaller than he was. We had been sending him here for years until some volunteer ‘Karen ’ decided she didn’t how he looked and because he growled. Never coming back. Thanks.

We enrolled our Labrador puppy to the 21 Days Puppy Board & Train program and we couldn't have been more impressed with the results! Carey, Caroline, Mallory, and the team at Bowen Island Dog Range have done a fantastic job in transforming our little girl to a more behaved, calmer, and confident puppy. It was like she was a different puppy altogether! Throughout her training and boarding, she got to socialize with other puppies and dogs in a safe environment. With their recent renovations, the facilities are very clean and modern. There is plenty of places for the dogs to go off leash and explore in a safe forest environment. From inquiring about the Program to our puppy's last day at The Ranch, it was a great experience. They answered all our questions, and gave us regular updates on how she was doing. They even provided some additional material to help continue her training.I highly recommend Bowen Island Dog Ranch for their excellent puppy training program, great boarding facilities and wonderful staff.

Do yourself and your dog a favor, and send your dog to the Dog Ranch. We had our pug Ace at the Dog Ranch for six weeks and I'm pretty sure they were the best six weeks of his life. The staff members are so incredibly kind-- and they genuinely love all the dogs. It really feels like a summer camp. Anytime we were missing Ace they would send us pics and videos updating us on his training. Ace has only been home a couple of hours and he is so well behaved. They know what they are doing. So, again, do yourself a favor and go to the dog ranch. I cannot rave about this place enough.
