At least 90% of the shirts I wear are from Movement. I’ve worn their shirts through two pregnancies and am still rocking the original shirt I bought from them over four years ago. I have not retired any of the shirts I’ve bought from them. Amazing quality. They look great. Super soft. Don’t get stinky armpits. 10/10.

I had the worst and truly unforgettable experience at this store just today. It was a long weekend and a holiday, so we decided to visit Bowen Island, known for its stunning beauty and friendly locals. It was a great experience but things turned upside down when we visited Artisan Square to explore some shops and enjoy a coffee. Unfortunately, most shops were closed, but we still decided to check out other stores that were open. We decided to visit MOVEMENT Eco Fashion since it was just beside to where we were sitting at that time.As we were about to enter this store, a lady (not sure if she was the owner or a salesclerk) rudely shouted, "WE DON'T ACCEPT PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT ACTUALLY GOING TO BUY JUST SO YOU KNOW!" I was stunned and completely caught off guard. It was loud and shocking that the customers who were inside the store were looking at us. Despite the embarrassment, we brushed it off and decided to walk away. However, as we were leaving, we clearly heard the lady saying/explaining to the customers inside, "ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO LOOK LIKE THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BUY." This was a clear and loud statement.First time in my life that I encountered such treatment. ONLY IN THIS STORE. We were very shocked then to the point where we didn't visit the other shops. We were enraged, dismayed, and humiliated and couldn't think clearly, so we just hopped on a bus without a clear destination and were unsure where to stop. Fortunately, the bus driver, who was very kind, offered to drop us off at the beach and assured us he would come back to pick us up. The beach was stunning and helped us calm down.As we were heading back to the main Island, we searched about this store and saw some reviews with the same experience, and the owner's defense was, "Customers need to book their appointment." Even so, if that was the case, she could have just said that they only accept customers with appointments - very simple. And there were no signs or anything that say’s by appointment only.To that lady: What made you think or decide that we look like we are not going to buy? Because of our looks? how we dressed? First of all Bowen Island is a tourist destination which is known for their local artisan shops which us tourist are excited to explore. This is an experience that cannot be easily brushed off. I am leaving this review to inform the management and encourage them to take steps in providing a better customer experience and prevent others from encountering such unpleasant situations in the future. It's disheartening to see a store promoting sustainability yet failing to reflect those values in their actions.

It's disheartening to encounter such behavior, especially on Bowen Island. Today, while visiting Movement Eco Fashion in Artisan Square, we had a distressing experience with a particularly abrasive staff member. She made assumptions about our purchasing intentions based solely on our appearance and proceeded to embarrass us in front of other customers. Before we even had a chance to enter the store, she loudly declared that they don't welcome people who aren't going to buy anything. This unwelcoming attitude persisted as she continued to make disparaging remarks about us to other customers. It's disappointing to encounter such rudeness, especially in a place known for its natural beauty and hospitality. We hope that the management takes steps to address this issue and ensure that all customers are treated respectfully in the future.

I have been buying Movement Clothing since the first store opened on Bowen Island. The quality of bamboo is such that I still wear many of the original pieces from 17 years ago! This clothing is great for traveling as it layers so well. The fact that many pieces can be worn in more than one way makes it very versatile. I always take visiting friends to Amrita’s store and now they are fans as well!

Ive purchased a few items over the years here on Bowen, twice with the support of the lovely owner who takes customer service to the next level. I feel completely supported and know that every body shape is appreciated here. My two shirts have followed me through two pregnancies and the beautiful material still has the elasticity to continue on after. I just bought a few more lovely items post Partin and I cannot wait to add more in the future to make me feel great in my changing mama body.

I have owned the reversible hoodie now for 5 years and it is still in great shape, it is my favorite hoodie to wear around the house as well as going out. The material is really comfortable and stretchy and I like how warm it keeps me. I liked it so much I recently visited Bowen island and purchased another one. I feel like I get a two for one deal on these because they are reversible and have different colors so you can switch it up with only one piece of clothing. My old one is still in great shape, i machine wash it and then I hang dry it to help keep it in great condition. I would highly recommend movement clothing to anyone looking for a good quality material that will last a long time.

Warning: Once bought, clothes are very hard to get out of. I had to make myself put on my other pants! Dangerously comfortable.

While cycling on Bowen Island this past weekend, I happened across the Movement store while the owner (Amrita) was inside. She’s typically appointment only (the store is mostly online) but she kindly let me in even though she was on her break. She was very friendly and introduced me to her brand. This has a more boutique athleisure wear feel rather than mass manufactured. I was convinced after I tried a pair of the reversible leggings that they’re worth the price tag. Made from bamboo (antibacterial and sustainable), 4-way stretch, all color/fabric is consistent in her catalog for easy matching and flat stitching..but what made it stand out was how soft it felt AND it didn’t show any panty lines. Will be checking out the rest of the catalog

DO NOT GO LOOKING FOR A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE AT "MOVEMENT". YOU'LL LIKELY BE DISAPPOINTED. Two weekends ago I went to visit my sister who lives on Bowen Island. Our Mum and Dad were with us, as well as my sister's mother-in-law and her sisters-in-law. We were looking forward to browsing in this shop because my sister has a clothing piece from there and it's something I'd enjoy seeing more of. Upon approach to the shop's front door I was suddenly right in front of the store's owner who asked my name, and was I x person or y person? I was told that it was important I understand that this shop was "... An intentional store...", to which I inquired what that meant. The response I was given was a diatribe of how she had no staff because of COVID (I was told many things at this time, I may not get them all correct), etc... Basically indicating that before I could enter the store I was expected to use the QR code to browse her website, then choose a style, size and color, and if she had it in stock I'd be permitted into the shop to try it on. Another member of our party flat out asked if "intentional store" simply meant that we could only come in if we were planning on making a purchase, and the owner then got her fur up and started blabbering about something incoherently. To make a long story short, my sister eventually expressed to the owner that she felt this was a rude way of treating potential customers. The entire party was in agreement at this point, and we decided to leave. The owner was very upset and began yelling at my sister, telling her that she could have been out with her friends at a baby shower, that she'd given up her entire Saturday for this "appointment". None of us understood how she didn't want to be at her shop in a very touristy location in mid-August on a Saturday, but whatever, she escalated her behaviour and was asking if anyone had ever run any businesses, to which a number of us replied that yes we had, and she just started slinging insults. Our father was with us and she was following behind him, continuing with the rude commentary. My Dad finally turned around and told her to "shut up", to which she responded with a rude expletive I refuse to write here. Basically, nobody understood how this person could ever get any business with her attitude and ability to send potential customers running in the opposite direction. It was extremely negative, the whole thing really upset not only myself, but several other of the adults in our group. I can only say that in my experience, it's been very useful to ensure that customers (serious or not) feel welcome and comfortable to come in and explore, but this piece of sales practice must be totally foreign to the owner of "Movement". Needless to say I highly recommend avoiding an experience like this by not visiting this store. If you do, I really hope you have a different experience than our lot did.

I love the clothes from Movement. They are extremely comfortable, they last a long time and you can create so many different looks with a few core pieces. Amrita has done a fantastic job with her clothes, and her business!

Although I bought a nice piece of clothing, I witnessed the most disrespectful treatment by the owner-designer to one of the customers (for not buying or, worst, simply being hesitant to buy). I felt profoundly uncomfortable and sometimes outraged at listening to the owner complain and criticize in a loud voice about the customer.
