This review is not on pricing or billing, but on tech support.
Last fall I called about long ping times in the 8 to 10 second range, not milliseconds but seconds and online offline issues. Lightspeed blamed it on my 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi even though I would get the same when connected with a network cable to the modem. I was told to change out my equipment and they sent me a long letter explaining 2.4G and 5g differences. I have all 2.4g cameras and other equipment that would have to be changed, not an option. I also indicated that my cable connection to my home was 40+ years old, exposed to the weather and possible corrosion, Lightspeed still blamed my modem. They would not entertain any other issues with my connection. So I lived with the poor connection issues since.
This bring us to last week my upstream connection went down completely. I called again, the first tech told me I had to change out my equipment, he was very condescending. I ended the call. I called back and asked for a manager, this tech indicated a manager is only weekdays. But, I explained the issues and he agreed with sending out Rogers/Shaw to look at the issues.
Today the Tech arrived, he saw the very poor upstream signal strength, the tech changed a few connections within the house and no improvement, He then went outside to the connection from the pole and found water damage on the cable. He cut back the corroded cable and replaced the connections, He verified upstream connection, a huge improvement in the signal strength. I how have a great connection again.
For over 8 months my connection was poor, I don't know why I had to fight and live with a poor outside connection to my house just because I own my modem equipment. I guess it is easier for the lightspeed techs to blame someone else for the problem then trying to listen to what the customer is indicating to them to help solve the issue.
Maybe this is a problem with a TPIA when the customer owns equipment, we have 4 parties pointing fingers at each other, Home owner, Shaw, Lightspeed, Cipherkey. Lightspeed should have stepped up earlier to deal with my problem.
I do not call it good customer service when the outcome depends on a roll of the dice on getting a good tech on the phone to listen to the customer and deal with the problem.
I am a single user and don't need or use anything more than 30Mbps connection, the standards and technologies are changing and I sure that my docsis 3.0 equipment will have to be removed at sometime. Newer technologies such as 5g cell internet provide me with so much more benefits and one point of contact for issues, lightspeed will more than likely become obsolete for my needs. But until then lightspeed has been stable on my price and never had any billing issues in the 3.5 years with them, but tech support sucks. I will stick with them until that time.

I've been using Lightspeed for around 5 years now and have been very pleased with their service. Rarely any issues compared to the big name competitors I've used in the past. Very short waits when you do have to call in and customer service is hands down the best compared to any other service provider. They get things right and do it quickly while offering low rates and quality speeds in my opinion.
