I know homelessness is an epidemic in Canada. However, I went to deposit cash into my account and couldn't. There was a person sleeping in the bank machine room. There should be more security regarding ABM room. I felt unsafe so I had to walk around with a wad of cash lol. Third world problems until you lose it!

“The last girl’s service was the worst! She treated me very rudely. She impatiently told me the amount I asked to deposit in my account, and then gave me a different amount to transfer. When I asked her to hand me the money, she said she couldn’t because it was in the machine.”

As a newcomer, I was hoping to get my first checking account with Scotiabank, get my first credit card and deposit all my life savings to the checking account. I had all the required documents and declared the money when I entered Canada and became a Permanent Resident. However, they put me though a few security checks, treated me like I'm some sort of second class citizen, very unwelcoming, unprofessional, very impolite.
Then I was taken to one of the room for the INTERROGATION. I just tried opening a checking account and deposit my money, that's just surreal!
After that I just left the bank, walked for 5 minutes and saw a TD bank, that I knew nothing about. It took 5 minutes, a few smiles and a pleasurable experience with a personalized banking professional to set everything up. I have 0 clue how such horrible banks like Scotiabank could even exist, terrible terrible experience.

Anushka provided a wonderfully pleasant and informative meeting that addressed all of our questions and took care of all of our needs. With convenient parking in the park, it was a perfect banking experience.

I’m having issues with this branch for multiple times. Employees are rude, not willing to help at all comparing to other banks. I’m going to close my account and not bank with scotia again.

Today 09/16 around 450 , I went to Scotiabank at Kingsway to pay my auto loan, and I had a terrible experience. The teller was an Asian woman wearing glasses with a black frame and a black shirt, and right off the bat, her attitude was rude. She didn’t even bother to greet me, just blurted out “debit” with a flat expression. I explained that I didn’t have a debit card because I don’t bank with Scotiabank, but instead of clarifying, she raised her voice and snapped back at me with, “I said debit or ID,” and gave me this attitude-filled look. I wasn’t having it, so I raised my voice and told her not to yell at me. She denied yelling, saying, "I’m not yelling at you; I asked debit or ID," but the way she said it was so condescending. I ended up tossing my ID on the desk out of frustration and told her that she shouldn't talk to customers that way. If she hated her job that much, she shouldn’t be working in customer service. It was such an awful interaction, and her behaviour was just ugly and unprofessional. It was such a disrespectful interaction. This branch clearly has staff problems, as they already have a low rating. Scotiabank should invest in training their employees and ensuring they know how to treat clients with respect and basic manners.

It takes three 3️⃣ visits to go and update your e-transfer name with Scotiabank.
I went one time to change my main branch (for my debit account), second time I went to spell my name and third time they requested me to go to go sign a document. Crazy waste of time

No line up inside the branch but you must wait outside in the sun?!
They even locked the front gate and have the security guard calls you in after 30 mins like some sort of high fashion/luxury store.
Better bank elsewhere.

Great service and courteous staff. Went to open a bank account with them and was helped by Hyndhavi. She explained all the steps and processes very nicely and got the process done smoothly.
