I absolutely hate leaving bad reviews but this location and their online support are sketchy and consumers should be careful with them.
Inconsistent information across in-person and online support channels, ultimately led to an absolute goosechase for what was supposed to be a simple refund.
They refunded about half online, and support advised the rest of the refund "failed" and we'd have to go in store to tap the card. (Doesn't make sense why the payment was split up, but okay fine.)
At the store, they refuse to refund and tried to offer a gift card instead. (No thanks - refund offer was made and accepted, we're here as advised for the refund)
Still nope.
Called support who immediately issues refund after calling in (remember, these are the same folks that originally advised we needed to physically go to the store and tap for a refund).
Couldn't this have been resolved on the first interaction? Were several exchanges and weeks of waiting for the rest of the refund to post necessary?
A complete waste of time for them and us. They spent more money on wages dealing with the issue than the revenue they attempted to save by tiring us out.
It's not about the money at all. It's the principle that this isn't how business is done in Canada, and we can't let it become the norm. I hope others not as persistent aren't taken advantage of.

On the evening of September 17th, my sister and I visited the American Eagle store at Coquitlam Mall. We were unaware that the store was closing at 7 PM. A staff member knocked on the fitting room door to inform us that the store was closing, which we understood and complied with.
However, when my sister, who was with me and celebrating her birthday, asked if she could quickly try something on, the staff member refused, repeating, "I am sorry," without any flexibility or empathy. Despite explaining that my sister was celebrating her birthday and that we both intended to make purchases, the situation felt rigid and impersonal, as though we were speaking to a robot.
I work with customers myself, so I understand the importance of adhering to store policies and ensuring timely closures. However, as we were already in the store, I believe a bit of flexibility would have made a big difference in our experience. Both my sister and I left without making purchases.
With sales declining in many retail spaces, and given the current economic climate, I would have expected a bit more customer care and understanding, especially when the store was empty. I understand that retail staff are often underpaid and have demanding jobs, but ensuring a positive customer experience is vital for encouraging repeat visits.
I hope this feedback helps improve future interactions.

I walked into American Eagle to browse based on a recommendation by a friend. As I walked into the store I was greeted by a very friendly employee. His name was Stéfan. Stéfan had made himself available if I had any questions while browsing. I felt no pressure. I had found a pair of pants which I liked and enjoyed. I asked Stéfan for specific colours of the pants. He was very helpful and ended up helping me find a deal online to price match. The customer service provided by this gentleman was top drawer. He was courteous, polite, and charismatic. With this experience provided by this gentleman, I will definitely be adding American Eagle to the list of stores to browse for my future wardrobe. Thank You Stéfan.

Went looking for a specific item and accidentally left the house with the wrong credit card (yup🤦♀️) but the wonderful employees found the item in the back + I placed an online order for it with the right card’s info and was able to go back for it like 5 minutes later! thanks again

I have never ever shopped at American Eagle but your smiling , happy attitude has now made me a customer. Thanks to the girl at the dressing room, the store supervisor and especially the girl at the cash (you were awesome). The girl at the cash could not be more helpful.

I purchased an item on sale and went in to exchange but was concerned they wouldn't honor the sale price for the exchange since I needed a different fit.When we told employee that we had a question about the return policy, they interrupted us before we could ask our question to regurgitate their entire return policy at us. Like, congratulations for knowing your own store's return policy, we said we had a question, not for you to cut us off to try to show off that you remember your own return policy.When we finally got a chance to ask if the sale price could be honored for a different fit, they were very aggressive about multiple employees coming over to crow like seagulls about how you must pay the difference. (Their example was that if you bought on sale for $40 and the current price is $80 thar you'd only be paying $40 for the new one- apparently they think it's normal to pay double for the same pair of jeans in a slightly different fit.This all happened without me saying anything aside from those two sentences yet these employees went on big rants- I wouldn't have minded if they answered a question normally and if it wasn't the answer I was hoping for, and of they actually listened, but they were very aggressive and seemed to be trying to show off to their coworkers that they knew the return policy and had no interest in providing actual customer service, just interested in lecturing their customers about it.I didn't say anything else, just said "okay I'm leaving then", and tried to walk away, and then the employee followed me saying "are you sure? I'll show you what I mean."...You're telling me the employee is so out of touch that they think when they tell a cystimer that theyll have to pay double the price for the exact same Jean in a slightly different fit, they think that isnt the issue but they think the issue is that their customers are so stupid that they can't understand what paying the difference of an exchange is. My job is in customer service where I explain this to clients all the time, but at least I do it without being offensive and disrespectful.I left and as much as I love the jeans I don't think I'm ever going back again, at least not in stores of they're this disrespectful and offensive.

Claudia the manager is absolutely wonderful. She was so helpful in assisting me with my SPC coupon. I will definitely coming back to this store and recommend friends and family all because of Claudia’s excellent service.
