This is a model other municipalities should emulate. A project of Coun. Mae Reid, who fought to replace the aging SPCA shelter with a municipally-run shelter with properly paid unionized staff who would look after the animals with love and attention they need, she deserves the credit - as does all of the City of Coquitlam council including Mayor Stewart, who have supported this humane undertaking despite the often-high costs, as do the local veterinarians who offer discounted services to the shelter animals. Humans really can be better than our worst members and this shelter is a testament to that. Thanks to the animal care staff, the bylaws officers and the City Council and citizens of Coquitlam for setting an example for all.

Had our family feline leave us for her spirit journey a short time ago. Found the for profit companies just wanted way too many $$ for ashes and a paw print. CAS in for the win. Kind front staff, kind words and very kind costs.

We made a decision to adopt our cats here.
The adoption fee is just $200@ included chip, 2 vaccines and neutralisation.

Friendly staff. They take good care of the animals there. Definitely a place where most people aren't happy to be, but the staff were easy going and made it a good experience.

I honestly cannot speak highly enough about the staff at the Coquitlam Animal Shelter. We took about four weeks of a transition period to fully adopt our dog. Throughout the whole process we felt very well supported and communicated with. I was so heartened by how much they truly cared about our pup, and impressed by the individualized care she received. They gave us very detailed accurate information about her care needs and were really skilled in helping us set her up for success. If you are looking for an addition to your family, I would strongly suggest Coquitlam Animal Shelter.
