This is the worst customer experience I have ever had. For the second time now I have had my account frozen, locked out of online banking and cards blocked, meaning I do not have access to any of my money.
On the first occasion I was travelling and it was insisted that I confirm my identity at my home branch, 1000km away. I was then stranded without any means for food, accommodation or return travel.
This second occasion I am now in Europe and the same, without notification or contact, all funds blocked. Nobody on the phone including the fraud team want to help, somehow it’s all my problem and all my fault.
Do not bank here under any circumstances if you intend to use your bank account.

Wasted an hour to wait for the manager to come back from the break because the employees didn’t have clearance to do what I needed. Perfectly fine with waiting and finishing up shopping, but she didn’t tell me I needed additional paperwork or pictures of it despite submitting it on the app. The app does not have pictures of anything you have submitted and they cannot look into your account for the picture you submitted.
Please train EVERYONE with procedures to ensure you don’t waste people’s time.

Younger Asian guy gave me a little bit of a hassle for wanting to deposit rolled coins. I have never had an issue with this the last 10 years I’ve used Scotiabank. Don’t appreciate being accused of not putting the correct amount of money into the rolls. Very disappointed with the customer service here.

Bad customer service but this is not why I write this review. They are closed due to a COVID-19 outbreak, so if you've visited them during the last 2-3 weeks check yourself out for symptoms. They've got one star for not telling the truth i.e. the real reason behind closing the branch.
Update: One cannot deposit cash at their ABMs but has to line up and spend half an hour to be able to deal with a teller. Bad, bad, bad.
Another update. June 2024. The CHEAP Scotia Bank management chose to NOT have their ABT/ATM machines serviced TOO OFTEN so they must have chosen the cheapest option in order to save money as they seem to not care about their customers. I have AGAIN tried to deposit cash at their ABM on Sunday (branch closed) and I could NOT do it because the machine is full. Most likely. Shame on you Bank.
No respect for customers at Scotia Bank!

Absolutely terrible and not customer oriented. A huge lineup and no other rep comes to help. Also the staff here are not friendly at all. They look as though they really hate their jobs. Never smile or happy to help. Don’t waste your time folks having to wait for a teller.

I had appointment with one of the advisors to apply for credit card. Scotiabank in general is subpar in terms of client service but RBC reps are also trained to be impolite (TD is my fave). I arrived in this branch 10 min prior to the appointment time and had to stood at the help desk for 20 min. Needless to say no one offered me anything. I couldn't continue to wait so I walked towards the hallway where advisor rooms were. I found my advisor's name on the door so I said 'Tao, I have appointment with you'. That was 15 min past the appointment time. He was alone and looking at his screen. He said 'just one moment'. Then he walked out of his room and strolled to the refreshment area. He got his drink and asked me to come to his office. I've never encountered this unprofessionalism with any financial reps for 20+ years. Customers are greeted by an advisor in the waiting area (mostly on time). This advisor didn't seem to care about his future clients.

Overall, bank operations were fairly smooth. The constant changing of staff is a bit of a problem as familiarity of operations for the staff gets in the way at times. Clearing time of customers are needed to be improved on. On pay day, you'll be looking at a 30 min wait minimum. A bit of extra sitting can help too as you'll note the wasted space.
