On September 10, my girlfriend and I went to this gas station, to exchange our propane tank. We were camping, and needed more propane for our fire pit. After less than four hours (of running our fire pit on LOW), the tank ran out. Normally, we get eight to ten hours use out of one tank. I didn’t realize that she hadn’t contacted the manager, to bring this up to his attention.I spoke to the manager today, and expressed our disappointment. He asked me if we have the recipe, which we don’t. I told him that we would be able to provide a screenshot of her bank statement, showing the exact amount of a tank exchange. He said he needed to see the tank etc etc. I told him we live in Nanaimo, and she has since refilled the tank, as she barbecues regularly. We have been told that there is nothing they can do.Do NOT use this place for a tank exchange, as clearly, some of their tanks are NOT full.Very disappointed with the service.

This place offers exchange propane tanks outside of the 10 year certification date. My bad for not noticing right away. This is a serious violation and I'm tempted to contact the authorities.

Pretty standard gas station. Bathrooms were clean.

I rolled into this gas station to fill up before continuing on my journey north last summer. Two young pump jockeys were whiling away the time as the sun was setting, waiting for their shift to end so they could get on with their lives. One of them said, "Hey man nice hair." I was surprised to hear someone talking to me, and bumbled some inconsequential response, probably "oh thanks haha" or something similar. When I drove off several minutes later, I was in a good mood. Courtenay seems like a nice place with nice people.

My need to refill my BBQ propane was clearly an unwelcome inconvenience to the staff member. To be fair, he was working alone, cleaning and covering everything else, and had to lock the store up, so he could get my propane.
