Tried to return an item within a couple weeks of purchase. Item was clearly defective. Manager “Ashe” would not allow it because I used an item at work. I have never heard of an item being exempt from warranty because it was used at work. The item is a waist pack/ wallet.MEC used to be an amazing store. It used to have durable items at a great price. This store in Kelowna has the worst customer service I have seen at any MEC.This Manager “Ashe” was also training another new employee while this was happening. What a great example to set! Sad experience MEC very disappointed in a once great store.

Just incredibly bad service from MEC nowadays. First, my online order took 3 weeks to ship because of a "glitch" in their system that I only found out about after calling and emailing them for weeks. It takes forever to get through to a person and they don't even appear to bother responding to emails. Finally the order was shipped but it ended up being the wrong item! Back to trying to chase them down. After 5 phone calls finally a person to talk to. Her response: either take it in person to a MEC store to exchange (which I can't do because there isn't one where I live) or wait 6-8 weeks for a refund and replacement.......This company is in a serious death spiral.

Rocksolid joke. Apparently this is “my fault” when I never left in the sun or over pumped and used 15 times. This company has been going downhill for the last 10 years. What a shame that one of Canadas most respected brands now doesn’t stand behind any product. Take your money elsewhere.

MEC just lost a customerI bought this boot about two years ago but honestly the lacing loop started falling apart after two uses.Not wanting to be wasteful I kept them.Now I am at the point where I need my boots to perform and I just don't trust them.I brought them into the Kelowna location and they told me that this was under regular wear and tear. But I am sorry when you pay $300 for a pair of boots you expect them to last longer then two years.I am super unhappy with the whole process.I will not be buying boots from mec again.You would think they would stand behind their products.What a joke of a members rock solid guarantee.

Ordered a Kelty Backroads Tent online. A week later they cancel it and say sorry, we dont have that. Walmart does that all the time.down hill now that its not a coop.

We just had an incredible experience at MEC. The Kelowna location has a really attentive and knowledgeable team. It’s great to see MEC still has a big heart and cares about the community. Patricia rolled out the red carpet for us as evacuees. We left feeling special and really uplifted. We have a new child carrier and several items that were a great deal! Looking forward to creating memories hiking with our daughter Emilia!

I'm older now, but still shopping at Mec and getting outdoors. I had a disturbing experience shopping at Kelowna Mec with my wife and our small dog. Mec makes a point of saying that Mec is dog friendly, which we appreciate on a hot day when we can't leave our pet in the car.I chose a hat, and my wife was shopping for sandals prior to cruising the store for other wants and needs. I asked a woman employee for assistance with the sandals selection, and she reluctantly and with a petulant expression came over to where my wife was waiting. Our little dog, who is very friendly, greeted the Mec employee by standing up on her hind legs, looking her in the eye, and resting her paws on the woman's leg. The woman became verbally abusive, struck our dog away, and stormed off in a huff while striking at her own leg as though to knock off lumps of a serious contaminant, and loudly made disparaging comments about dogs in general, her dislike of dogs, and criticized me for not keeping our dog on a short leash. Whaaaa??? That's a first.I could see the woman talking to a co-worker while glaring at us as though we were a serious problem. We're an older couple who always treat others as we would hope to be treated ourselves. I was uncomfortable being treated like scum.No one else was forthcoming to help us with the sandal purchase.We were disturbed and left the store.If you're store management and would like a description of your worker so that you can have a conversation with her about this, feel free to contact me.

I was having a great conversation with a couple of very friendly employees when the so called “manager” (she wasn’t dressed like one) started bugging the employees about getting to back work. Since when is customer service not working???

Ok, we were all sad to see MEC is no longer a Canadian coop. But the good news is, in Kelowna it has the same friendly, educated staff. I bought the Smith Express bike helmet today (fits like a dream) and didn't bother taking the box. When it was getting recycled my super friendly bike staffer noticed the helmet extras were still in the box (cool little visor, and stick-on light). She got sales to give me a call to come and retrieve it. Now that is great customer service. I would have never known I was missing anything. Thanks!

Went here to return a jacket that started to come apart after 1 week of light use. They refused. They were also rude and unhelpful. I've shopped MEC for 20 years. MEC used to be a different. Times have changed. I won't be back.
