An important space for learning. Lots of room for improvement. Nice to see some innovation but room for plenty more!

Don’t waste your time. The advisors along with 90% of the support staff they have are incredibly unprofessional, any time you need ANYTHING done with the SSC it’s like pulling teeth. I’ve been hung up on multiple times and borderline harassed for asking basic questions regarding my enrolment just for them to not solve the issue. On top of all of this the campus itself is lacklustre and inaccessible, the majority of food options haven’t reopened since COVID, the instructors are wholly uninterested and this is reflected in their teaching, and with the rising cost of living especially within Kelowna the university has done nothing to ease the financial burden of students except to continue to raise tuition annually.

Undermines international students’ achievement as “just being here is privileged” by taking away a limited opportunity for getting small awards at the end of the term in order to allocate money to new vending machines and useless clubs. And not enough study space, it’s always packed and hard to find a place to sit down. Any kinds of the administration process is always slow and limited. Food is expensive. There’s no housing support and need to pay at least $1000 to get a safe and study-able environment with 5 other roommates. No affordable housing and they will reject you to apply for whatever reason they don’t like. I was WORRIED about me being homeless in all my academic years I spent here. This severely affects your mental health, which makes you disadvantaged in terms of finance and academic in comparison to your peers who can afford or access to better accommodation. Not enough courses and flexibility. For undergrad level, course material is uncompetitive for other colleges (including community colleges). You can transfer if you’re in the first or second year, they don’t really care. And always sky train wins, the public transportation system here is undeniably the worst I’ve ever seen in Canada.

I stop to use bus service from Kelowna to Vernon and vice versa. The bus is always packed full so chances of getting a seat is minimal. Not great standing for 55 minutes. Sometimes I wait an hour or more for the next bus. There is nowhere posted for the general public for:bathroom, drink, food, so it seems only designed for students. The large glass area never has heat for winter, it's a wind/rain/snow breaker, there is no cooling station for hot weather. Why have public transit that does not really have amenities or anything designed for the public yet there are mid stops for other places. Sitting for a long period on those benches is painful.

Attending UBCO is not worth the international tuition fees that they are charging! Some instructors from the Faculty of Management do not have a Phd and cannot properly teach at the university level, while the majority of those with a Phd do not have any industry experience to teach you how to do the actual business. Some just read information from the slides, assign useless papers on your feelings about wine and group presentations, and do not bother explaning well the concepts from the books in class. Please, save your parents' money and learn from people in the industry rather than attend this place!

Attended the Fine Arts Bachelors degree program for 1 year, and let me say it was probably the worst year of my life. I would not recommend anyone who wants to further their understanding of art to pursue this degree program as it is a waste of your money, and more importantly your time. The compulsory classes are populated with very few professors who have any value to offer to students as they have only ever gone through this same fine arts program themselves to become “professors”. This essentially means they have zero experience outside the pretentious and delusional echo chambers they call the “Fine Arts Bachelors Degree Program”. You will not learn new skills, but instead be given worksheets and self teaching projects to “find yourself as an artist”. I distinctly remember one day where I was faced with a near impossible task (although I didn’t know this at the time) of speaking with the Dean of the Arts program. One would assume this process would be relatively straightforward as we students pay for her 6 figure salary. To simply change one of my classes (I needed her permission for this specific change), her exact words were “you have exactly 30 seconds” accompanied with a tone of disgust and hostility. This was one of many unpleasant and uncomfortable moments I, along with many of the other students had whilst attending this program. Even more frustrating was the sheer lack of support and encouragement to students who were more interested in developing their technical abilities rather than developing their theoretical knowledge. And in a nutshell, this program is simply that; a theory based watered down waste of time. Not continuing with this “degree” or any art “degree” for that matter was the best decision I could have made. I am now a Director of Photography with no degree to my name.

Love the campus. A bit small for my taste but cannot complain, the facilities are top notch.

Stayed in a studio in the summer. Very strongly recommend to go there for leisure. You control your own AC, a must in the summer in the Okanagan Valley. Beautiful campus that feels like a movie. 20 minutes drive to downtown Kelowna.

The room was alright but for the price you pay to stay for one night you'd expect parking to be included. Instead you have to go through a whole app set up on your phone to pay for parking. Also, there is no TV in the room. It's just a room with a bed and kitchen which is fine but again, for the price, you'd think the basics would be included.

Not bad, cheap place to stay but it's clean, quiet and comfortable. What more does one need?
