These guys are the best. Plain and simple , the best.
Update , Aug 2024
They did a second repair on another one of my vans. They were thorough, explained to me in detail, very reasonably priced and got me back on the road again very quickly. I highly recommend to go here and no place else. Thank you again

My experience with C&S was fantastic. They were professional, friendly, thorough (they found a small side issue and fixed it up for me), and reasonably priced. I highly recommend C&S for transmission service and will be back next year for a differential service.

I needed a single bearing replacement and fresh clutch assembly installed. Easy, if youhave a lift. So I called them based on their website stating they service manual transmissions and was shot down rudely in 2 seconds flat.

Called to do repairs on a manual transmission, automatically says No, we don't even work on manual transmissions. But their offcial website says otherwise. Guy was rude as well

Jan/2024: After a rebuild, and followup repair, by a "transmission" garage in Courtenay 20K miles (yes miles) ago, I had to have my van's transmission re-done. I'd recently moved back to the Parksville area, so C&S was the obvious choice. It sure is nice to have competent and knowledgeable people work on my old van. If you have transmission issues, do yourself a favour and call Scotty at C&S. You will not be disappointed.2018: Great shop. After having a rear-end leak repaired at a local garage twice and finding the leak was still happening, I brought my van here. Really nice have the leak finally fixed. Proper parts and knowlegeable staff. Thank you, C&S!

Just called your shop to inquire about some work I was hoping to do to my truck. The guy on the phone was rude and combative, Ive never had such an unpleasant experience talking with someone on the phone before. I would suggest taking your number off your website if your going have that guy working the phones.

I had a transmission flush done in July 2023. On the morning of the appointment, after I drove to the C&S shop I was told the parts had not arrived. This was a surprise as they had a few weeks to order the parts and get them delivered! The appointment was rescheduled to Friday. The original quote that I was given included 2.5 hours book time to do the flush. The flush in fact only took 1.5 hours at $ 160 an hour.As Scotty does not work Fridays, I finally connected with him, during the following week to discuss the actual labor time.In a rather abrupt and condescending manner Scotty said that is "My Gain / Benefit" as the actual labor was less than the estimated time.If you want to get scammed and overcharged for basic transmission work. C & S is the place to go to!!

Scotty took care of my van, which runs very nicely now. The shop is busy but they made the time for me and I'm extremely grateful for that.

Top notch transmission shop. Efficient, fairly priced and downright friendly!! They even gave me ride home when they heard how long I was going to need to wait for a ride. A wonderful company to do business with.

Dealing with C & S Transmission was the worst experience I have ever had with a mechanic,After seeing their website about being Honest Mechanics I took in my Jaguar XK8 that was having Transmission problems. Leaving the car with them they said they would call me with an estimate, after checking my car they told me that the Transmission would have to be rebuilt at a cost of around $6000they added it would take about 2 weeks to repair and that is all they said, they never mentioned anything about any other problems the car had that could need attention.I thought that was a bit expensive, but caring as my wife I did for the car we gave them the go ahead.Around 6 weeks later we got a call saying they found that the car needed a new catalytic converter which they could fix for another $750 and again never mentioned any other problems. This we agreed to and a few days latter they called to say the car was ready. We arrived there and after paying the bill and I got in to the car to leave... I went to put the car in to drive but I could not move the gear shift out of park. Noticing that I was having a problem Scott ran over to me and said that I had to put a thin piece of plastic into a small hole to get it out of park as the brake switch was not working... something I had never done before. This I did, but could still not get the car to move, so once more Scott came over to tell me I had to put the gear shift into manual drive first and then back into automatic to get it to move. When I questioned him on this he gave no information and became very unfriendly and told me to get out as he had another customer coming in. It was then when I stated driving along the highway I noticed that none of the cars gauges and instruments were working and all my warning lights were flashing.,. No speedometer, no gas gauge, no fuel gauge NOTHING WORKED. I immediately pulled to the side of the road and phoned him. I told him my problem and he said, “it was like that when it came in” and hung up!Following my wife home so that I could monitor my speed I then called him again, I told him that what he said was a lie, as the only warning message I had when it came in was a transmission fault and I knew everything was working OK as I pacifically watched my speed when I drove there as not to damage the transmission any further. To this he said it was an electrical fault and recommended an auto electrician – adding he would pay their bill if they could prove it was their fault. Again his attitude to us was extremely terse, uncaring and he didn't give a damn. Heck, as for customer care, they did not even wash our car and it was covered in tree sap, pine needles and bird dropping after being there weeks longer than they said! It cost us another $950 to fix the car and after emailing them to tell them to inform them, they didn't even respond. Also the repair shop that repaired the car, stated it was one of the worst transmission jobs they had ever seen and the fact I had to put it in manual first and then back in to automatic was disgusting... It is our opinion that C & S are not a honest or caring mechanics they make out to be...
