I love the Womens centre! The workers and volunteers are so kind.There is a free store for clothing, as well as snacks and warm-hearted volunteers. When life felt hard because of financial restrictions or relationship issues, I knew I would be safe and listened to at the women's centre.

They have created such a calm and welcoming space here. Local food, a free store that is fully stocked and a great library. The resources that are available here make such a difference.

From Nelson & District Women's Centre
The Nelson & District Women’s Centre is a feminist organization that has been celebrating, supporting and empowering Kootenay women since 1973. The Centre believes that advancing gender equality helps to build a healthy community for everyone.
The Women’s Centre provides space, support, free resources, referrals and engagement opportunities for all women. In particular, the women’s only Drop-In provides a safe and supportive environment. Other events, celebrations and programs are often open to the community.
