It's a standard Safeway but you can't rely on the departments to be open on weekends or holidays. Like the pharmacy closed means no allergy meds and other nessasery meds

Just a heads up to anyone not white - be careful shopping here. I was just accused of shoplifting literally 30 seconds after paying for my groceries. The security person was extremely rude and shamed me in front other customers and staff. I had to call over the cashier I paid to clear it up (one would think the security guard would have done that before accusing me). There were lots of other people there but somehow me being the only person of color in the store, was the one accused of being a thief. Not even questioned or pulled aside, just immediately told they’d seen me stealing and when they got caught lying they offered me a $25 gift card. I don’t want your $25, I want you to train your security not be racist jerks.

They are always out of things. Without fail, always one thing in my list they are out of. Often big line ups at the tills because they only have one or two open.They have great sandwiches, though! Great spot for lunch, not so much for grocery.

My favorite Safeway in the Kootenays. I live in Fruitvale and will drive to Nelson instead of Trail or Castlegar. The food is the best, whether it's sandwiches for lunch or something for dinner.Service and Staff are great.
