“Established in 1996 this home-home-gallery is a pleasure for the soul and eyes. Thanks for being part of the New West Cultural Crawl. It has been such a pleasure to stop by today.”
“My husband and I recently held our wedding here and are we ever happy with how the day turned out. Susan’s recommendations for vendors also helped make our wedding day even more memorable. The space allows your to really express yourself and help make the wedding your own. As artists, the space really spoke to us and were so happy we were able to share our special day here with our close friends and family. Thanks for letting us celebrate in your space! -N&C”
“This is a great little community art gallery that features new and established artists from all over Metro Vancouver. There is no cost to browse, but you can leave a donation for the Arts Council if you wish.”
“I recently stumbled upon the New Media Gallery and had the most mind-blowing experience with their current exhibition, PneumoMachinic. I was fortunate to get a private tour from Gordon Duggan, the Founding Executive Director and Curator of the gallery. He personally explained each artwork and the fascinating stories behind them, making the experience truly eye-opening and unlike any other art gallery visit I’ve ever had.
The exhibition itself is a captivating exploration of breath and its cultural significance. The artworks by three different international artists—Ali Miharbi, Cristhian Ávila Cipriani, and Xoán-Xil—are remarkable, using sound and technology to evoke the essence of breath in various forms. From reconstructed human vocal tracts to ancient Peruvian flutes played by live wind data, and intricate wind-instrument automata, each piece was a unique blend of art and science that left me in awe.
I highly recommend visiting the New Media Gallery for anyone interested in innovative and thought-provoking art. I’ll definitely be coming back for future exhibitions!”
