What an absolutely delightful place! The house is one of the coziest I have ever lived in. The fireplace and the cushions made the perfect setting for the evening to sit and play games, read books or just chat. It's super close to Sechelt and Gibsons but in a very peaceful neighborhood. Martin is an amazing host. They have a lot of board games of their own and other stuff like cycles you can borrow. Totally recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Up The Creek Hostel on the stunning Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada, and it was nothing short of a five-star experience!First and foremost, the hospitality of the staff was exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm smiles and a genuine sense of welcome. The staff went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable, offering valuable local tips on where to explore and providing assistance whenever needed. It truly felt like I was staying with friends rather than at a hostel. The interior of Up The Creek Hostel is an absolute delight. The cozy atmosphere enveloped me as soon as I stepped through the door. The common areas were tastefully decorated with a rustic charm that perfectly complemented the natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast. Whether I was lounging in the comfortable living room, preparing a meal in the well-equipped kitchen, or enjoying a book in one of the snug corners, I felt right at home. What truly sets this hostel apart is its enchanting exterior. Nestled amidst lush greenery, Up The Creek Hostel offers a serene and tranquil environment that feels like a hidden oasis. The beautiful garden and outdoor seating areas allowed me to unwind while taking in the beautiful morning. It's the ideal spot to enjoy a morning coffee. In summary, Up The Creek Hostel on the Sunshine Coast exceeded all my expectations. The outstanding hospitality of the staff, combined with the cozy and charming interior, and the enchanting exterior, created an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in the heart of British Columbia's natural beauty. I can't wait to return to this hidden gem on my next visit to the Sunshine Coast!

I’ve given a lot of thought on how I’d like to start this, and I’ll begin here. My experience in the past dealing with Martin, the owner of Up the Creek lodge has been for the most part positive, but my last experience staying there was, to put it bluntly, somewhat traumatic. I am open and proud of my sobriety. I have been clean and sober for a year and I won’t let His hateful words have an impact on me. For context, I have spent the last 48 hours in and out of the hospital due to a severe stomach problem. I have not consumed any pills or drugs that have not been prescribed by my physician for over a year, and, when I left the hospital, I was of course given a prescription for an antacid as well as gravel for my nausea. As everyone knows when you’re moving around sometimes things get lost or misplaced. My mother, and I at this point had travelled an hour to the ferry terminal. When I kindly messaged Martin asking if there were any pill bottles left behind he swiftly sent a message telling me that I’m not permitted to consume illegal drugs on the property. This is discrimination and hate speech. This is an incredibly small town and I’m aware that people might know about my past, but the past is the past and it’s time that we all move on. This is just a tiny example of what addicts and addicts in recovery deal with on a day-to-day basisMoving onMy mother who is 67 years old, a very sweet, gentle, calm lady, was accosted two times by a girl with purple hair, who claimed to work there. When I got the text message from Martin, telling me that I am using drugs my mother, of course, sprung into action to defend me. She called Martin trying to resolve the situation as she is a kind, reasonable woman. He told her that she was hysterical , out of touch and that she should learn her place. Still, she tried to remain calm and we were instructed that the anti-nausea medication would be able to be picked up by my father within the next hour or so. My mother at this point was crying and it truly broke my heart to see her in this way. (IF YOU TAKE AWAY ANYTHING IT IS THAT THIS MAN MADE MY MOTHER CRY AND TRIED TO GET MY FATHER ARRESTED AND TOLD ME I WAS A DRUG ADDICT. )The next part of the story is truly disgusting. My 73 year old cancer ridden father, who is so sick he could barely walk the block and a half It took to get there, showed up and asked the purple haired girl for the medication. She was very rude as she has been in the past. My father, very calmly, and very respectfully said that if you were going to slander my daughter's name, then I have a right to write a review and tell the community about our experience here. Me, along with my parents moved to the Sunshine Coast in 2001. I have never and all of the many years I’ve spent living there on and off have experienced such discrimination and cruelty. My fragile, very ill father was then screamed at by this woman with purple hair, told that he had threatened her and this sick disgusting excuse of a woman sent the police after my dying fragile father, who had been on his deathbed not so long ago. The police actually showed up at the house and had a conversation with my very ill father who you can imagine came very close to having a heart attack and is considering going to the hospital because the situation made him extremely ill.

There is loaner bike for free and everything in the Creek is close by. I have appréciantes that a lot of efforts are made to reduce our environnemental footprint. Thanks again Martin and Haley! Highly recommended!
