I was recently in the branch on saltspring, trying to book an appointment that I also booked online. They booked me in same day after waiting almost 40 minutes in line for the single teller that was open. I show up 15 minutes early for my appointment and the empty offices with the manager and I'm told it's against company policy to book same day appointments. They aren't helpful nor do they care, I had the manager (Raymond montana) lie to my face. Do not use this branch if you don't have to. Awful.

Always closed. They claim "staff shortages" but ignore any and all applications. Every time I go next door to the BMO right next to CIBC, they have their entire branch filled with employees. Every single time. Yet CIBC needs to close their doors for an hour* when someone needs to take a lunch break. They're that understaffed. My service fee seems to go up by an extra dollar every year. Yet every time I take the bus into town to cash my check or pay a bill, they're closed. Either closed early, or closed long enough for me to miss my bus home (and wait up to three hours for the next one, never mind waiting for them to open in the first place)My family is upset I couldn't pick up groceries for dinner tonight, and my phone company is going to shut off my phone by the time I finally get to deposit my check. Ridiculous. I pay a service fee for this???Offer a better wage or get off the island so a business not run by toddlers can use the real estate. It's not fair that the average employee has to take consumer abuse because the bean counters are being cheap with labour.*I stuck around the business for 25 minutes. When I first showed up at 13:35, they said "it'll be one hour." They did not tell me when they'd be back, they pointedly refused to answer the question. When I left at 14:02, they were still telling people that they'd be back in an hour. So basically they had no clue when they'd be open.

Had to keep closing the door after the manager because we were talking about private matters....Also didn't seem to have understood me. Made things more difficult. I waited weeks to get that appointment......

3/4 times they've been closed due to staff shortages. This is so tacky and unprofessional. Closing the branch permanently would be preferred over having one "sort of open" but never knowing the hours.

Appalling service! My husband grew up on Salt Spring and has banked with CIBC since he was a kid, but after our last interaction we made the move to BMO. Even their best employees are jumping ship, the wonderful Maeghan recently transferred to CIBC. Do yourself a favor and skip the frustration of trying to work with CIBC. They don't show to meetings, and managers are not interested in helping make things right. What could not be accomplished during months of communication at CIBC was completed in a few hours at BMO.
