A great Marina with a lovely Estuary and if you look carefully you will find a path to Wilson Creek. If you go now you will see Salmon!

Quiet & secure. Worked as a great stopover location as we headed up the Sunshine Coast. Marina manager, Matt, was a huge help in facilitating emergency boat repairs.Mini mall a short walk away. Next time, we will bring a cord with a smaller head/adapter to fit in the plug.

The marina is not exclusively used by the owners of the Stalashen condominium complex, as moorage is accessible to anyone with a well-found boat that is insured. The marina is quite small, accommodating only thirty or so vessels, with a few dedicated transient slips. The community is gated, with condominiums overlook the marina, and cameras are present, so security is scarcely an issue. The marina is idyllic, as its quiet setting is never marred by excessive noise, and the gated community means that ne’er-do-wells never gain access. The only complaints that I have are that the marina’s entrance dries at zero tide, so you do have to manage you sea time wisely. Another feature is that if there has been a strong NW wind, you’ll leave the marina to encounter some seriously tall, short period, seas; it’s best to avoid the coast between Roberts Creek and Sechelt in these conditions. As well, in a good southerly blow, you will have your fillings rattled, as the interior of the marina gets incredibly bumpy with the swell.Overall, the place is fantastic. I haven’t encountered any challenging personalities, and the owner is terrific.I used to moor at Shelter Island, so getting to the ocean was always an ordeal. At Stalashen, the sea is just a stones throw away!

Just passably acceptable if you never intend to actually use your boat, and just need a wet storage. However, the marina's defining characteristic is a gradually building bar right at its entrance. A bar that dries each day on a low tide. Understandably, for an enthusiastic boater, this will put a serious crimp into your ambitions. As well, if you are already on a multi-day trip, the annoyance of having to plan a large segment of your trip around entering the marina very quickly rubs you raw. Secondly, the entrance into the breakwater is very narrow. In any kind of a large swell (which is frequently the case at this location), only the foolhardy contemplate entering. The marina is quite small, accommodating just thirty or so vessels. The marina can only accommodate motor boats less than 45 feet, and with the bar to contend with, sailboats with shoal keels, or lengths less than 35 feet. There is electricity and water, but no toilet facilities. Extremely limited garbage service, and the owner prohibits liveaboards. No pumping facilities, and discharging your toilet into the water is prohibited. There is no boatyard, and large scale boat repairs are not permitted. Fuel is available in Wilson Creek, which is a short walk from the marina. The next closest fuel barge is at the Secret Cove Marina in Halfmoon Bay. The marina is a part of the Stalashen condominium community, so the entrance to Port Stalashen is gated. The marina and condominiums are on native land, with another ten years remaining on the lease. There are a few dedicated slips for transients, with an honour box system. Most of the people there are exceptionally kind, but as anywhere else's, there are a few troublemakers there who delight in stirring the shit. Lastly, in a SW blow, all the boats get knocked around quite badly. Ultimately, this is a marina to use as a last resort only. For transients, there is a shopping mall with an IGA close at hand, and a Canadian Tire within walking distance too. For all other boaters, Port Stalashen is not a long term solution.
