Terrible employees, extremely disrespectful and entitled. Raymond was blocking an alley and I asked him to move and received major attitude so I told him to shut up and stop blocking the alley, Raymond then proceeded to SNAP at me and scream in my face, he then called my company and told them I told him to F-OFF which is a lie, I only told him to shut up, he was the one cussing me out. He then insisted he can block off the alley because he’s at his warehouse, it’s not a warehouse, it was his garage….. Extremely entitled fellow who seems to be mad at the world

A trip to Strathcona is never complete without a trip to Benny’s Market. Janet, behind the counter, is super friendly & welcoming.Sandwiches and pastries are always amazingly tasty. You HAVE to try their Crème Brûlée Croissants. But get there early; they sell out fast. This gem of a corner grocery store have been on the same corner for more than 100 years. ??

They sold me chicken that was soured and wouldn’t replace it.They sold me repackaged frozen chicken thighs without an expiration date label. When I opened the package the chicken was clearly gone bad, it smelled foul. I threw out the chicken and brought the package in. The owners told me they don’t have a good sense of smell and were very defensive. They would not replace the meat, which I was shocked by.That seems like a given next step for This situation.I am disappointed and frustrated and I won’t be shopping there again.I like supporting small local businesses but I didn’t receive the care back I expect as a neighbour and regular customer.

It's not a popular opinion but I don't care if it's a 100 year old family business. I hate Benny's Foods.I have been going here for the 6 years I have lived in the neighborhood. Finally, this week, they actually acted friendly to me and asked me if I lived in the area. I have been coming here for 6 years! Same 2 people always at the cash register. Happily chit chatting with customers. But when I try to make friendly chit chat, I am met with what feels like hostility. I noticed from the get go that they didn't treat me the same as other customers. Yet they pride themselves on being a family business, and part of the community. But they don't treat the community all the same, that's for sure. Last year, I got a lecture when I needed a bag 5 cent bag for my $25 purchase. After spending who knows how much money at this store, I decided to try a Too Good To Go box. It was awful! Literally rotten fruit that was inedible. I saw all the boxes waiting to be picked up and what people before me were getting. They were getting good stuff. Then when it was my turn, the lady didn't give me one of the pre-prepared boxes and literally grabbed rotten produce and gave it to me. I decided to give it one more try and still the same, except it was much smaller than the first time. I threw the entire thing away both times because it was inedible. It's over priced, and there are lots of places that sell similar stuff at better quality and prices. The products they carry aren't hard to find or all that special. After spending a lot of money here over the years, I plan to go elsewhere, where they treat me nicer.

I go out of my way to grab a sandwich from Benny's. Simple, nothing fancy, but great ingredients and the family/staff are always friendly and kind. Sandwiches are affordable too. I also suggest any of their home-made cookies.

I absolutely love that this store has been a family run business for over 100 years now. The owners are from what I can see a very lovely couple who really care about being there as a family business which face it now a days you don't come across these types of businesses anymore because everything is has been franchised and become one of many chain store's some might even go as far to say they just all have been commercialized.. So I encourage everyone to go and get out to support businesses like this because soon we won't have any left cause of how big corps have been buying everyone out that they can.

It is a great place to find things even the big stores don't have. And the deli makes great sandwiches.

Nice place, a bit pricy but fair for a neighborhood store. They got their own deli and sizeable pantry selection, but I only go for bananas and ciggies

Good selection for a small store. Watch your expiry dates. "Over 100 years old!" Debt usage fee?
