I had an amazing series of service provided by Ali from Instamek.
My old car was sitting in a backyard for a while and mice started going inside the car and break pedals and tires were worn out so it wasn't safe to drive at all, and that's how I got to know about their service. Summed up the main reasons why I recommend this service:
1: Online portal: It's really nice that their online portal allowed me to see clear explanations with photos. It was a huge help as someone who's not a mechanic geek so I can go back to it and confirm what I heard from the mechanic on site.
2: Great communications: Ali communicated with me very well to make sure that I understand my car condition and what needs to be done to fix anything that's unsafe.
3: No hidden costs: Every aspects of the cost were explained thoroughly and without any surprise additional cost or unnecessary stuff that auto-reparie businesses tend to push on customers (been there..).
I had to discontinue the service unfortunately due to moving to a condo where auto repaires not allowed, but I totally would've kept it if I continued staying in a house! I will come back to it for sure once the situation allows it.

Avoid this service, it’s terrible. That have an IA booking system booked me and the mechanic refused to show. When I called three times the AI advised I would receive a call back and never did. I tried to rebook and the system then told me they don’t serve the area they had previously booked for me. Two days later I received a call and booked through a human but refused to apply any sort of discount for delaying my inspection and possibly losing the vehicle. A short time later I received a call back and was advised their mechanic could not show but they refused to arrange another mechanic for the same day.
I wasted a total of three days trying to have instamek complete the inspection and left me in a very difficult position having to cancel, book and cancel the inspection with the vehicle owner.
This is not a serious or professional service and should be avoided.

I am really happy with the service I had with Ali as my mechanic. He was very communicative through the whole process. InstaMek made a stressful situation very straightforward. I have signed up as a member!

What a great service! Needed a pre-purchase inspection done before the weekend and was able to book an appointment for within 24 hours.
Ali came by right on time and was amazing to deal with. Super friendly, very thorough, and more than willing to answer any questions I had during and after. Once he finished I received a detailed report by text and email within 30mins with everything clearly broken down and lots of photos.
Highly recommend for a PPI or if you’re in a bind and need someone to come to you. Customer service online and over phone was great too. Thank you InstaMek!

So far I've had 3/3 great experiences with Ali—he is ready to get on the job when he arrives, and each time has gone above and beyond to walk me through his work once he is finished. He seems knowledgable and resourceful, and is a friendly and intelligent guy! Thanks Ali!

CAN NO LONGER RECOMMEND!!! Another company that has gone down the drain.
First red flag is that the company has had no growth or expansion in the last 5 years, their customer service has gone downhill and their new mechanic is a joke. Jack used to show up, rain or shine, on time and get the job done.
First off, their customer service is abysmal, I was on the phone with him for 10 min as he hemmed and hawed an appointment time, trying to squeeze my appointment in on Friday and said they may have to reschedule. Get a text that the mechanic is sick and they have to rebook, so I rebook for Monday, get a message over the weekend that due to "unforeseen circumstances" they have to rebook. I stated they already re-booked once and gave my availability, to which they said they would in fact keep the appointment. Monday comes and it's supposed to maybe rain, they ask if I have a covered area, which they have never asked before, to which I said no, and they said they'll "keep an eye" on the weather and may have to re-book. Well, it didn't rain all day in Richmond yet their mechanic Ali was a no show.
When speaking to them I expressed how unprofessional it is to not show up for appointments and there has never been a problem with no cover before because THEY HAVE CANOPIES TO WORK UNDER!!!! THIS IS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST!!! A RAINFOREST!!! I'm sorry, your business model is to cancel your appointments every time there is a light shower?!? I'm not parked on a river. A canopy, if it was raining which it wasn't, is more than enough protection for an oil change and tire rotation. People don't have all day everyday to wait around for you because you are a diva that can't stand the touch of water. Not to mention I have been a Prime member for years and this is how they treated me, no follow up after I cancelled the appointment all together to even try to keep their customer. Beyond unprofessional, this business may have a year or two left before they fold, don't waste your time or money on this company. What a shame, used to recommend them on all my platforms but I will save the unprofessional text message thread from them and show anyone who will read it, what a joke.

I live on Vancouver Island, and was interested in a car I had previously looked at in a dealership at North Vancouver, so I got Instamek to do a pre-purchase inspection that I could not be present for. A few minutes into the inspection, the dealer texted me a photo of rear window of the vehicle broken. I would have felt so bad if this were a private vehicle! I don't how the heck he managed that or why he was even close to the back window. That being said, accidents happen, so I would be willing to have grace for that if he were transparent. Unfortunately, in his post-inspection report, under the list of things that were in good condition, was "rear window" with a green check mark beside it. This is completely unacceptable. Not only did he manage to break the window, but he left it broken, and reported that it was in good condition! Naturally, this made it very difficult to take anything about the vehicle he said seriously, making the inspection essentially a waste of money.
When I complained about this, all I got was a list of excuses. The mechanic claimed that the window "spontaneously broke" when he was inside the vehicle. Take a look at the photo. Windows don't spontaneously break like that when the vehicle is stationary! I had previously taken the vehicle on a thorough test drive on the highway, over speed bumps, and dirt road, so if it were to break spontaneously it would have done so then. His reason for not telling me about the broken window was that the dealer claimed that he would fix it. Do I actually have to explain to someone that you should never trust a used car salesman? What if I went to purchase the vehicle, to find it has a broken window and the dealer insist that I pay for it? It is not the responsibility of the dealer to inform me of things wrong with vehicle, but the mechanic I'm paying!
No doubt I will get a reply with lots of excuses, and it's true that he did recommend I not buy the car because of excessive rust on the bottom and took lots of photos, and I ultimately decided not to buy the car. But a broken clock that is right twice a day (on a 50/50 call) does not deserve a 5 star review. I came to the decision based on consulting with people I TRUST who know things about cars. That's why this was such a poor experience for me, because I couldn't trust my paid mechanic and had to get advice elsewhere.
Looking at other reviews, it looks like there are some quality mechanics here that do a good job, but you could also get one that instead damages your vehicle and lies about it. If you decide to go with Instamek, I wish you good luck!

Went back and forth with a nightmare seller and the guys at Instamek bent over backwards to help me out with trying to complete a ppi. The sale fell through, so I'll definitely be using their services again soon!

I'll try be as clear as possible DO NOT USE. They keep telling the Mek I'm supplying parts when I've screen shots telling them I'm not supplying parts.I have given them the shop that does that parts and they have made little attempt to source the Japanese auto shop that do the parts for my car. I've paid for a service and the car still isn't fixed!To top it all off they tried taking money out of my account with no receipt or invoice nothing. Just tried to take money out of my account.They've given me little to no updates over the last two weeks and keep telling their Mek that I'm supplying parts WHEN IM NOT. Two weeks and still nothing. I don't know if it's a breakdown in communications from their customer service team or they just don't want to deal with me.I will say Mek Ali is brilliant and very professional. Customer care not so much.

Ali is a great mechanic who is polite, friendly, super knowledgeable and always takes the time to explain exactly what the issue is and the work done/required in detail. Highly recommend! Also, Waheed was friendly, polite and professional! A pleasure to deal with!
