I had a very disappointing experience at this Persian supermarket. I bought three items, and all were expired. The bread I purchased was stale and had an unpleasant smell. When I mentioned this to an employee, he brushed it off, saying it was only a month past the expiration date. As the only Persian store in Yaletown, I expected better quality and service. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend shopping here due to these issues with expired and stale products. So disappointing.
Regarding your response:
It’s not about the bread, unfortunately. I know how to keep bread fresh, and I did put it in the freezer as soon as I got home. The issue is actually with packaged products that have expiry dates written only in Farsi. For customers who don’t read Farsi or aren’t familiar with the Iranian date format, it’s difficult to tell if a product is expired.
I’ve noticed quite a few expired items still on the shelves, which might be overlooked due to this language and date barrier.

Beautiful locally made baklava and other sweets such as ice cream. Lots of produce, teas and spices. if you're lucky, you'll see a cat or two lounging about the store.

Absolutely thrilled with my experience at this grocery store! They have an excellent selection of Italian pasta sauces and pasta, as well as fantastic BBQ sauces. The European items are a delightful addition, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you so much for making my shopping experience so enjoyable. Highly recommend this store!

Would love to support a local independent store, but their prices are insane. What's worse is that nothing has a price, so you only find out when you're paying once at the register. Tbh, I suspect they make up the prices on the spot.

This store is the only Persian store in Yaletown. Most of the local Persian things are available. It was recently renovated and so clean. Me. Amir is so friendly. He has gone after his sweet father, who we lost in two years. The adorable cat is the asset of this store.Highly recommend it.

I bought 2 packs of sunflower seeds from here. When I opened them they were very very old and there were insects like small moths inside them. There were no expiry date on them either!!!Next time I went back and noticed actually most of their products has no expiry dates on them.Isn't there an organization to control these things?!!!

I used to evangelize about Foodness all the time because it's such a neat specialty store, but I won't be going there anymore. On my most recent visit, the shopkeeper was unmasked and there was a prominently displayed anti-masker sign, so I walked out emptyhanded. It's really disappointing because I love to see local, indie businesses thrive, but I cannot continue to support them when they cannot do the barest minimum to care for their community.I'm done.(I am unable to respond to the business' response directly, but to clarify, my issue is with actions taken by the business, not by the customers -- I did not see another customer there, but admittedly did not stay long. It was the person working there who was unmasked, and the "Hugs Over Masks" sign was displayed on *their* shelves. We wouldn't have had an issue if this had remained a "personal and private" decision, or if it was simply a customer. But when a business makes a choice to display a sign, and an employee doesn't mask, it ceases to be a "personal and private" matter.)
